Back on track, OK. I would not want to sit down and talk with DJT. We would have absolutely nothing in common.

I dunno, @Joy Martin , you might have more in common than you think. I get the feeling that you are feisty, opinionated, stubborn, up for a good fight, last to back down, ...............… you know, like Trump. :):D

I was replying to Joy's post about the school shooting. I didn't quote it because I had assumed that my post would appear directly beneath hers, but the forum was busy at the time, and that didn't happen. Given that she had posted about the school shooting in a Trump thread, my assumption was that she was on to him, and knew that he had personally ordered the shooting, in his capacity as the head of the NRA.

Joy seems to believe that the NRA is personally responsible every time there is a shooting in the United States unless the shooter is a leftwing nutcase, in which case she probably believes that Trump drove them to it, which is all the same thing anyhow because everyone knows that Donald Trump is the real head of the NRA anyhow. I'm not sure who she blamed for the shootings that took place during the Obama Administration, but probably whoever else she thought was running the NRA at the time. That is how the conversation went from Trump to gun control. I made one brief comment on the subject which, when I began the post, would have been immediately following her post about the school shooting. Before that, there were comments about AOC. Brief digressions are not a problem. When they turn into a subject of their own, they can be split off.

When we have a Democrat president, shootings are blamed on the NRA and used to push gun control. When the shooter is white, then the automatic assumption is a white supremacist doing the bidding of Donald Trump or whatever name they want to put in there, and the topic is about hate and the need for gun control. When the shooter is a leftist, they either try to pretend that he's a white supremacist or they ignore the motivations altogether and make it about gun control. When the shooter is black or Muslim, they either don't report it at all or they ignore the motivation and make it all about gun control. When both the shooter and the victims are black, leftists don't care, so it will rarely be reported at all, and anyone who wants to discuss it is a racist.

When we have a Republican president, then the president is personally responsible for any shootings. When shootings are up, that is the news because we clearly need gun control. When shootings are down, we're all supposed to pretend that they are up anyhow, and we need gun control.

    Was Columbine Bill Clinton's fault?

Trump is our president and he's doing a great job, which is why the media focuses on the negatives. When the economy is good during the Trump presidency, the economy doesn't matter. But as soon as there is a slump, even if it's only a blip, the world is coming to an end, and it's all Trump's fault.

War is cool when we have a Democrat president, and if a Democrat president stands up to a foreign leader, he's showing strength. However, in a Trump presidency, anything less than bowing to every two-bit dictator in the world heralds the imminent end of the world.

The NRA is around 5 million people, apparently none of which have ever been involved in a mass or school shooting. It has always baffled me as to why the Sierra Club and other organizations that constantly lobby for their causes (not in the Constitution) are tax exempt, while the NRA, who lobbies for issues actually contained in the Constitution, are not tax-exempt. The NRA has always lobbied for heavy additional penalties for crimes involving firearms, while the Dems in Congress have actually blocked such legislation, I assume so they can raise a fuss for gun control when such things occur.

Gets me why the ATF doesn’t have the focus upon it as much as the NRA does. One of the major jobs of the ATF with a 1.5 billion dollar budget is to enforce the existing laws of the land of which one is to prosecute those who illegally sell and procure firearms of all types but the agency obviously has a lot of shortcomings.
The NRA doesn’t make law but it does have an extremely large bank of lobbyists who keep fighting for our (legal) constitutional rights whilst it is the job of the ATF to enforce those laws whilst busting the heck out of those who abuse those rights.
Now, there’s a pretty shaky balance betwixt the two entities and much does depend on how congress decides to roll on any given issue but at the present time the ATF can’t even control the illegal sales of a handgun much less something much more powerful.

I'm certainly not like Trump, but I have my own opinions and beliefs and can't imagine swimming with the sharks and all their lies. This man has no voice, he has so many already serving time to protect him, his friends. The White House is nothing but an ongoing swinging door, You're Fired.

So everyone runs to the Constitution, what do the parents/loved ones do who lose their children due to the 2nd amendment... NRA has had so much power and control but I hear they are in some financial trouble and losing membership. Americans are sick and tired of losing loved ones in the schools and churches etc.

Nope, I'm not angry. You wouldn't want to see what I say when I get angry. ;)
