    @Joy Martin
    FYI, Joy, I have no party affiliation, nor do I give a fig about party-politics.

    Thanks Frank, I didn't join this group to find friends but to offer and share MOSTLY health info as this is my passion. So the politics thing came up and I wandered in and omg, found I was a lone dove, I consider myself a liberal in just about everything in my life and do not set out to harm and cause anger.

    We'll see how it goes and thanks for your friendship.

    So what I've gotten from coming in here, this group are all from his base. He promised them the wall and low taxes and and and all I hear every day is impeachment.

    At least from the other group I'm a member and they have a political area that I hardly go to as I know it's wild, they have voices from both sides.

    @Joy Martin @Beth Gallagher

    Consider that U.S. unemployment stands at the lowest level in the past 48 years: that takes us back through quite a variety presidential philosophies, does it not? Both parties, neither of which do I savor, as you may know.

    Is this fact a result of chance? A result of Trump being President? Or more likely, a representation of the return of "public confidence", which drives the "machine"........a complicated, convoluted process whereby confidence encourages spending and investing, both of which grease the wheels of production, which furthers the need for more output, which furthers the need for more production facilities, which furthers the need for more employees of all types, from office to production, to skilled labor.

    If it's due to public confidence, as I call it, what brought that about? Obama didn't, Bush didn't, Clinton didn't, Bush didn't, Reagan didn't, Carter, Ford, Nixon, Johnson didn't, let's see now, we're back 50 years, did Trump "luck out"?

    We may have very low unemployment but in my life I see housing and just the cost of everything higher. Just heard on the radio (NPR) that more companies are going public and they are located in San Francisco and the cost of a 1 bedroom in that city is about $3500 and that could be the higher end but in that area. It's an expensive city anyway, but...

    I personally don't feel Trump has much to do with all the employment and how much he has to do with the tech world, not much as I see it. Obama I feel did quite a bit for the job world. We have a lot of empty expensive apts in L.A. and it's said more and more people are working on leaving L.A. due to rising cost of living here.

    California is a big hot mess and that has nothing whatsoever to do with Trump. The tech companies from Silicon Valley are taking over San Francisco and making sure that the middle class there is being forced out.

    In my opinion, the idea to send all illegals to the Sanctuary Cities (or in California's case, Sanctuary State) is a good one. Then the promoters of illegal immigration can deal with it since they don't believe it's a problem.

    Ditto. I'm a moderate and an independent, though I lean to the right. I'm ashamed to admit that I voted for Hillary because I had a bit of "TDS" myself early on. Thankfully I have seen the error of my ways.

    @Beth Gallagher

    But, .....but,..... It takes a MAN to admit he's wrong! Ha! To have voted for Hillary suggests you did not know about the multitude of scandals, the questionable deaths within, the Whitewater Property. Or perhaps, yer younger than you professed? Don't remember then.........

    Nah, your "ways" were not in error, believe you me. You acted as you saw fit to do. With conviction. reversed conviction later....that's the biggie: we often act without "seeing a light", but few of us can REACT in the other direction after seeing it.

    How I envy you!

    The fact is, Frank, Trump scared me and I could not imagine such a boorish president. I still can't say that I like his character or personality at all, but I appreciate that he is trying to keep his campaign promises. Also, the more hysterical the left becomes, the farther right I seem to lean.

    As for Hillary, I saw her as the lesser of 2 evils. I didn't really want to vote for either candidate, but as I have stated before I was a fan of Bill during his presidency and I thought the nation prospered during those years. Seems like scandal is the SOP in American politics.

    There are voices from both sides on this forum, but definitely more conservatives. Yes, Trump promised the wall but as you well know he has been stymied by the Democrats who are bound and determined that he will not succeed, even in matters that benefit our country. Sad state of affairs, that. We need that wall and we need immigration REFORM... NOW.

    He did lower taxes. And you hear impeachment from hysterical Democrats who should finally stop beating that dead horse and start actually doing their damn jobs that they were elected to do. Half of the Democratic party is already campaigning for president in 2020 and it's very tiresome. I don't want open borders and I don't want my country to become Socialist. Therefore, Trump 2020!

    The main object of appreciation @Joy Martin is that you, like many others read without experience. A person who has even the smallest amount of experience regarding any subject has a better chance of screening the truth from the false.

    On the financial scene, have you ever sat down and seriously talked with someone who has a great amount of wealth such as a multi-millionaire? I think you will find that bankruptcy isn’t confined to the small business person but move over, someone who has a lot more than a small business at stake is seen much more at the lawyer’s office. Do you remember American Oil Company? They went bankrupt, changed the name to AMACO and they were pumping gas before the ink was dry on the paperwork. Nearly every major player has gone bankrupt at some point in time.
    Granted, it’s sad that the law allows so many people to legally shrug their shoulders at someone they owe money to, but it’s legal and that’s the bottom line.

    Now, to the NRA. I was an NRA member and yes, I dropped my membership like quite a few people do because I do not want to spend the 40 beans to be a member any longer.
    It’s the money, not the NRA initiative.
    Has even the New York Times ever reported that a shooter at a school or church was an NRA member? I can’t remember one but maybe you can.
    But here’s the experience part. Have you ever been shot at? Have you ever been robbed at gunpoint? Forget the gunpoint, have you ever had a one on one with someone who simply wanted to kill you? Probably not. A purse isn’t the choice weapon for someone who is trying to defend their own life. It may smart a bit, but it will not do very much in the grand scheme of someone who is determined to kill you.

    Lastly, countries which the NRA doesn’t even have any impact on have illegal firearms. ALL countries who have moratoriums on firearms have illegal guns, rifles, assault weapons etc. If every weapon on the planet were to be taken and melted down, there would be thousands produced from men and women who know how to make them the very next day. Illegal? Yep. Plenty of crazy people and thieves to shoot them? Yep.
    Perhaps @Frank Sanoica might be able to inform us as to how long it would take to make a gun. He’s not a gunsmith but I’ll bet a dollar to a donut that he can build one.
    And ya know what? The NRA would probably condemn the illegal procurement of weapons even if the constitution were changed but they would still be fighting to bring back our rights should such a thing occur.

    Bill had a very corrupt administration, as @Frank Sanoica brought up, but he wanted to be popular, and after his massive losses in Congress in his first midterm (enter Newt Gingrich), he proved flexible and willing to compromise for the good of the country. His allowing welfare reform and a balanced budget through (which he initially strongly opposed), brought him a second term. He was also the recipient of the benefits of the tech revolution that was taking place at the time. Before Clinton, the Republicans hadn't held the House of Representatives since Eisenhower and that was only briefly.

    Well one thing I've learned from Trump, leaving my $1000's of debt to society doesn't mean a damn thing, it's all swallowed up in the end. He is so deep in other's money. And to think I used to worry about my little debt, oh yes he taught me "how to do it".... great teacher.
