And I have a good friend who has been a lifelong republican, donated all the time to her party and she voted for Obama and can't stand Trump....So....

I don't want walls and I have too many good people in my life who came here with all the border fences.....good souls. Good thing my grandparents could get in here. No walls.

And.....tell us the story of how your grandparents came into this country. If it was the same as with my past relatives, no matter if there were walls a hundred feet high, they came here legally and were accepted, they studied, became citizens and here I am.
A wall just keeps out those who would otherwise choose the easy way in.....illegally.

We're talking about the economy and that goes with Trump times and how great everything is now.

And wonder why CA has people who still want to come here....and yes some are leaving as it's gone out of sight with housing costs.

Love people who attack other's lifestyles.

I'm not going to tell any stories, but thinking about my grandparents they probably never became citizens and worked hard and raised a family here....and I thank them for that.

And it's NOT easy for people to leave their homelands for a better life and work and have families, many today are working to escape to stay alive.

I think that you said in one of your posts that your grandparents came in through Ellis Island, which is how most of our grandparents who were born elsewhere arrived in the United States. They came here LEGALLY, and they were proud to learn English and become “real Americans”, and build a new life for them here.
Those early immigrants came here to make a change in their life, and not to overthrow the government and change what America was and stands for.
The illegal people coming in now , come in waving the flag of their country and trying to change this country, to be like the country they just came here from.
In any case, it is possible that our President will allow the illegal people to live in the sanctuary cities, and you will probably have a chance to make some new friends with them once they settle in close to where you live.
More “good souls” in your life.

I agree with that - have seen programmes on the situation, a lot of hard working people needing a break
The 'big' problem for them is, that not far behind them is the criminal element that also want to invade the US
A country has to eventually say enough is enough and to take a tough stance

I don’t think Beth was attacking your lifestyle in particular. If you wish to harbor illegal aliens, do so. If you wish to bash the president, do that too.
But bashing D. Trump for your economy is slightly askew viewing how your newer state taxes now eat up everything our new federal tax laws give back to the citizenry of the U.S. You simply cannot blame D. Trump for the problems that your state and city governments have wrought upon it’s own people all in the name of uh....what? Progressivism? One of the highest homeless rates in the U.S. Progressive? Top 10 dope addiction rates in the U.S...Progressive? Voter fraud off the charts. Progressive? Street gangs, murder, rape, thefts, all through the roof just like New York, another state run by democrats.
But all is well if you like that sort of thing. I didn’t. I lived in good old Victorville for a couple of years. Even the locals say it’s the meth capital of the world.
Dunno, I moved before I tried to prove or disprove that analysis but I do know that I didn’t blame the president at the time. I blamed the people who voted in the idiots who sat in the state and city governments.

I know I nor anyone on this earth or even from a far off planet is going to change your mind about Trump but if you view the real facts as they stand, the executive branch of the government is doing exactly what was promised even with all the headaches that the Dems have created. And yes, the Democratic party has indeed created the extra problems and haven’t even broken the ice when it comes to solving the past real problems that have faced the country as a whole but I digress.

Here’s the bottom line as I see it. The dems want to see Trump fail. They want to see the president of the U.S. fail. As I have written time and time again: who in their right mind wants to see a sitting president of any party fail? That, my dear forum member and colleague, is a death wish for the whole country.

And the Repubs did everything in their power to make Obama fail. Ongoing obstructions just like now, right?

In my mind Obama did not fail, he will go down in the history books as a beloved leader and I am proud to have lived during these times with a darker skinned person at the helm. Now to have a female at the helm. I can die knowing the fairness of our political system.

And as far as the word bashing, it goes on all over the political scene...and even here, yes.

Uh, have you forgotten the nuclear option for voting in congress. Democrats.
In the first two years of Trump’s tenure the dems have done absolutely nothing but harass the administration whilst doing absolutely nothing about helping to solve some of most outstanding problems left by the last 3 administrations.

Look, you have your fav’s and everyone else does too but not one person did I ever hear on the republican side say they wished Obama would fail. Not one. Now that Trump is in office, nearly everyone who Hates Trump hopes he will fail. That’s ludicrous!! If a president fails, we all fail!! Heck, look at the Carter years for proof of that!

As far as having a person of color in the White House? I personally do not, nor have not cared if that person is green with pink stripes as long as they see the problems and try to fix them and mostly just do what they are supposed to do which is definitely not spending a couple hundred million bucks of taxpayer money playing golf, selling uranium and giving millions to our enemies.

A woman in office? Sure, no problem just as long as that person isn’t voted in just because she’s a woman the same as Obama being elected by a major portion because he is black (or kinda).
Hillary ran that aspect as one of her planks. “It’s time we had a woman in the White House”. Maybe true but definitely not THAT woman!!!
Personally, there was a time when I would have been glad to vote for Colin Powell if he would have run for office. (It would have been a mistake though)
And........I really thought Nicki Haley might have been grooming herself for office and I for one, would vote for her not because she’s a woman, but because I think she is more than qualified for the job.

Contrary to what some may believe: a penis nor a vagina .......can think.

By the bye: add one more thing to your list of things that cause depression: Democrats. :)

Smart people are not generally the best leaders. Woodrow Wilson was probably the smartest president in modern times, but definitely not the best leader. Harry Truman was probably one of the least intelligent presidents, but he made a pretty good president. Obama sealed his academic records, so we don't know whether he was intelligent or not. The media and the Dems said he was, but he did little to prove that point. Bill Clinton was probably second to Wilson in intelligence, but he wanted to be popular, and his drive was provided by his much less intelligent spouse who would do anything for power. Neither of the Roosevelts were geniuses, but Teddy had drive, and Franklin not only was driven but knew how to pick the advisors around him. Trump has some successes in picking advisors, but some big failures as well. I believe Mike Pompeo is becoming the star of the administration, and IMHO is close to becoming another James Baker.

Dunno. My IQ is higher than either one of them and both of them are a heckova lot richer than me.
Obama was smart enough to get into the White House and then procure enough money to buy 2 mansions whilst serving as president and an additional one after leaving. Yep, smart enough not to get caught pulling the proverbial rabbit out of the hat the same as Pelosi, Harris, and the other lifetime members of congress.
Heck, Trump should have included the democratic party in his book and called it “Congress, the art of the steal”.

As far as what the good professor has to say: Not realizing I was bored, I was once told by a 9th grade math teacher that I couldn’t pass her class so I asked for the final exam in mid term and aced it. Many times it is the teacher or professor who is the idiot and not the student.

Dern, I forgot. Obama’s handlers were smart enough to find someone who wasn’t even born in the U.S. and get him elected. Obama’s handlers are smart, Obama got rich.

This thread is actually meant for polite discussion, not rude comments like this one you just posted. Please refrain from just making inflammatory accusations, @Joy Martin. You are welcome to share your thoughts, but please be considerate of everyone else’s viewpoints.
Rudeness is unnecessary and demeaning to oneself when one does that.
