I'd think for the same reason as Germans did when the enemy took over the country and got them to be a war machine. Probably a lot of other countries too - when profits prevail over kindness and well-being of citizens, health and such.

Not sure I understand what your saying. Far as taking care of others I agree we should help the windows and orphans but I don't think we should care for those who are able to care for themselves, that is not good for any society. Sooner or later people run out of money.
And help those struggling to survive.
Do you think we can or should take in and support the billions of people in third world nations? Do you realize how many in this nation are on government assistance already? Many are able bodied, and many make bad choices and expect others to pay for those choices.
Some people don't understand what the Bible says or means. In one verse ir says care for others and another it basically says, 'neither a beggar or a borrower be'. Look at the ghettos where people are killing each other dying from drugs where young healthy men refuse to work and young women have no self-respect or chastity freely give their bodies to bad men and have kids others have to support. Democrats like it that way.

My aunt use to say," sometimes its cruel to be kind", now I understand that saying.

David and Chet and Walter Cronkite are long gone.
Where do you actually go to get news?
We used to get the local papers but not any more. They are sprayed with fire retardant so you can't even use them with kindling.
I liked USA today. Folksy But don't get it. Epoch News? Very right. New York times too left. Youtube? Not always reliable...
