I thought of you when I posted that L.A. price, wondering if Alaska had them beat. TOWNHALL.COM has an article this morning stating that for the first time ever in a U.S. city, gas in San Fran has topped $5/gallon, as has the average price in the state. The article cited Gas Buddy as their source. That's who I used to get those L.A. prices yesterday. I guess San Fran must have been the front of the wave on Thursday.
No I think Liters are the same in all countries but the US gallon is not the same as the Imperial gallon.
Doesn't have much to do with this thread, but I'm wondering about "Unleaded." Our auto fuel hasn't been leaded for decades.
That Chevron station in my last post is in the LA area; the pic is a screen capture from the KTLA Channel 5 TV station in Los Angeles. It was on Yahoo yesterday and is not a meme. There are stations around Houston where regular is still under $3. https://www.gasbuddy.com/gasprices/texas/houston
I didn't pay attention but I think it was in the $3.70s a couple of days ago, the last time I filled my tank.
Bush Alaska always has everyone else beat in the U.S., as the fuel has to be barged in during the summer or flown in if they don't have access to water, but then again, it is mostly used for boats, ATVs, and snowmobiles except in the hub villages that have a mall road system.
I managed a Hess gas station back when unleaded transitioned in. We had Regular Leaded, Hi Test Leaded, and Unleaded (white gas.) That was right before rationing kicked in...the only job I've ever had where my life was threatened by customers. I didn't even notice the thread title. That's pretty funny...a definite generational reference.
It looks like the cheapest here in Huntsville is $3.19 (according to Gas Buddy), and most of them are around $3.50, and the name brands would be higher than that. My son, Michael , works at a fuel station in eastern Washington, and he said gas is $4.29 there and his boss told him to expect it to keep going up, by as much as 10 cents per day . Rising fuel prices always means everything else will go up also, because delivery prices have gone up. Between that and the possible trucker’s strike, it is getting even more important to be stocked up on basic necessities and have a full fuel tank in the vehicles.
I think we only have one gas station in Millinocket now (there were, I think, four when we moved here), so our prices are generally higher than, let's say, Bangor.
California leads the U.S. with out of sight gas prices....don't get me going here. CA taxes the people here out of the sky in t his very deep blue Lib State.
