Bill, we didn't invade Vietnam, the South Vietnam Government ask us to help them keep North Vietnam from taking over. The French had tried this before, but not succeeded. All I know is when someone says to me, "Thanks for Serving", I do say "Thank you", but add on to that "just please remember we didn't win that conflict. We pulled out and the North took over the South. Those 10 or so years of fighting, and losing men, just to have us pull out."
I guess I'm in worse shape than I realized. I was weedeating along the lake yesterday when the weedeater quit feeding. I sat down and started taking it apart to free the line when I noticed a shadow moving across the ground. I looked up and there were about a dozen buzzards circling above me, some swooping low and some landed in trees staring at me. I decided I must be working too hard so I went inside to rest for awhile
It's mid-morning here on a slightly chilly but sunny morning ...not done anything yet but make brunch... but yesterday I did nothing at all due to my aches and pains... Fr 4 months now I've had quite severe tendinitis in both of my shoulders and down my shoulder blades, which have got progressively worse, and making me miserable tbh... I was expecting to enjoy my retirement..but since retiring I've been battling this pain, which prevents me from doing so much, including showering and brushing my hair without breathtaking pain...and of course I rarely get the chance to go out to partake in my greatest hobby of landscape photography which I miss so much..... its being treated with meds from the doctor...but as everything happens with the NHS very slowly..it's really dragging out... however, I'm not looking for sympathy...instead, 2 days ago after visiting with my RA consultant, for some reason I felt little pain for the first time in months...the sun was shining it was a beautiful day so I took the opportunity of walking over to the nature park near my house, it's just a lovely quiet place where people walk their dogs...with nothing there but Woodland, reservoir lakes and lots of birds and a dragonfly trail...and a few sheep grazing in the meadow... but it was the first time I'd been able to get out and walk for 2 hour at one time.. and take some photos on my walk around the lakes... and just for one day I felt completely back as normal as before... walking smartly , no pain...enjoying the sun, chatting with a lady walking her dog as we sat by the rippling brook.... Just sheer, joy....and although the pain is back..I kinda feel it was worth it, just to have that lovely feeling of normality for the first time in months!! here's a few photos of my walk..... you can see that Autumn is starting to come in slowly... ..I had to redcuce the last one because they were too big to post... I've got loads more..I may post them on the photo album thread... but anyway..it cheered me up no end...
@Holly Saunders , I’m saddened that you’re in such pain. As you know, I too battle RA,, and I want to give you some encouraging words. It is a matter of finding the right arthritis meds, and the correct kind of physical activity. The meds will be the most tricky issue, as you’ll just have to try one after the other, until you fall into the right one. But as you’ve mentioned, even one day doing something physical that you love to do, will remind you of how joyful life can be. So take heart my friend, and keep on keeping on.
Good day today! This morning it was snowing like crazy and we ended up with about 6" then it started melting off. It's early this year but we are prepared and I think it will all be melted off within a week. It didn't stop us from going to a garage sale downtown. Didn't find any treasures but it's the joy of the treasure hunting you see, our favorite hobby.
The weatherman said we could expect a 60% chance of rain today....he failed to mention there would be flash flooding along with that. Taking this picture a short while ago I found myself feeling like last year's flood was coming all over again. Can't wait to see the News at 5 to see whose home got flooded this time. Thankful it is not ours or our children's this time but this picture shows the result of only a few hours of intense rain and I don't know if more is coming or not. It's not a good day in the Neighborhood...nor for our City.
It's the right side view from our porch. We are up on blocks so that water is not a problem for us. But those first homes you see are the ones that flooded last year and with just a few hours of intense rain today the water is almost in their homes again.
