Ice Cream... Mmmmm... Let's Talk About It!

    We had a place called High's Dairy Store in town. They had the best ice cream. The internet says At one time, High's was the largest ice cream store in the world with over 500 stores, including locations in Virginia, Delaware, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C. They still have 54 locations in Maryland plus 4 in Pennsylvania. Not bad for a company that's 96 years old.

    My favorite as a kid was High's orange sherbet.
    Then it was Baskin Robbin's mint chocolate chip.
    Then it was pistachio.
    When I moved here I switched to Food Lion's brand of black cherry, with tons of cherries in it.

    We went to a place in Manhattan for pizza, Afterwards we ordered a ice cream dessert Which was served on a pizza aluminum platter, and was enought to serve the entire table. It was there largest size Ice cream desert they had and was called the Tugboat.
    It fed everyone at the table we were stuffed and their was half left, I said we should have ordered the canoe.

    There used to be a chain of ice cream stores called Giffords in Arlington VA. They had a HUGE banana split called The Alpine Split. I had one after a Thanksgiving meal, and walked out looking like I was smuggling a volleyball.

    We used to go to a IC store and not sure how to spell the name Jahns, I can't remember, Anyhow they had a ice cream desert call the Kitchen sink. I've never had it, But was told it could feed three or four people.

    Wait...wait...I forgot about spumoni. I used to eat gallons of it in college. I LOVED it when I could find it. Haven't seen it in a long time.

    Oh my! If you are not channeling one of my best friends who had passed. A while ago she reminded me of my 16th birthday when my mom took us to Papa Jahns and we got a 'kitchen sink' It was a HUGE punch bowl of 4? half gallon blocks of ice cream with ALL the toppings you have ever had. I think there were 8 at the party and I am not sure we reached the bottom.:) after eating pizza.
    Why is diabetes rampant in this country? I am sure I don't know.:rolleyes:
