that's the thing , at least in my pool in Spain there's usually only me in it.. here it'\s impossible to exercise or swim with any relaxation with other people in the pool, and also with strictly only lane swimming.
Maybe somewhere in the town where you live, there is a facility with a swimming pool, @Lois Winters ? Our Medicare Advantage plan includes Silver Sneakers, and the hospital here has a Wellness Center that has a nice pool, hot tub, steam room, and sauna, and that is where Bobby and I go almost every day. Bobby uses the equipment and works out, but I swim and do water exercises for an hour when we are there. Some senior apartments and senior living places do include exercise equipment and pools, and also some hotels have a pool that you can get a membership with. Even the little town in north Idaho, where I used to live had a large hotel with indoor swimming pool and exercise room. Since they were not always full of travelers, especially in the colder months, you could get a monthly membership there for about the same cost as a fitness membership. Most of the people who use our pool at the Wellness Center are seniors, and there is usually not a lot of people at one time. Sometimes, I have been the only one swimming, although there are usually 2-3 people in the pool.
@Lois Winters Once you are feeling better, go to your local American Legion. Someone there may either have a pool you can visit or know of one that is near you. I don't know how it is done in New Jersey, but Florida has many campgrounds and senior retirement communities sell memberships so other seniors can use their facilities......or play golf.
Dear Lois....Christmas and New Years was certainly not in your favor. So sorry what you went through, and still going through. Glad you're back home, and safe. Home is the place to be for you right now. Showers, heat, i'm sure it feels so good. Hope your PT gives you some relief. You have such strength. Hope your recovery go well.
