Before everyone one starts praising the government. Wrong country in the Dominican Republic they are starting to round up illegal immigrants. The people have been complaining but nothing done but after the Haitian killed a high up police official they started to round them up. I live in the countryside which employs many Haitians. They have taken 5 cattle trucks full just from this village. There is literally millions of Haitians here they probably outnumber the Dominicans now. For the last few months they have set up locations for the Haitians to go and get permissions to work here so it is no big surprise that there would be a crackdown. This sweep is also collecting people from other countries who have over staid there time some American/Canadians have been here years without checking into immigration
Haiti is a pitiful country with no practical way out. Legend has it that the founders of Haiti signed a pact with Satan when they got independence. That is supposedly why one end of the island is prosperous, while the other end is destitute.
I just heard it was a General that was killed by the Haitian and also a Canadian. There is police all over the place right now.
