Nope. I added it to my wish list, but it's another bulky item I really have no room for so I passed. (I've tried the funnel type before with minimal success.) I always end up letting the stuff sit in the fridge (or under a secured propane grill lid on a cold night) overnight and having the dish the next day...I just plan on doing that. Another half-works trick is to let it sit for a bit for the fat to rise, then put ice cubes in some cheesecloth and run that over the grease slick. The fat sets up and sticks to the cheesecloth...for the most part.

I really like my stuff 100% de-fatted...I do not like that oily feeling on my lips.

Yeah, I've tried all the tricks over the years; nothing really works without a big mess. (Except the refrigeration overnight but I usually want to serve the dish right away.)

please explain to me why a grown an thinks, unless meatloaf is made in a meatloaf pan - it is not meatloaf. Regardless, as a present from Mark got a double meatloaf pan. Um, I used it, yep tastes just like meatloaf:rolleyes:
Plus, after all these years he wants soup bowls? I have some deep soup bowls- but wait they do not have handles on them, not multi colored and cost $30! They will be here on his birthday come Monday. I am, sure all my home made soups will have added flavor with the color variety of bowls:rolleyes:

So what starts him on these particular issues?

I've never used a meatloaf pan because (a) I like the grease to run off, (b) I like the meatloaf to brown, and (c) I usually ice it with some ketchup-based sauce. Perhaps I'd use a bread loaf pan to mold it into a perfect shape, but I wouldn't bake in it.

I bought a soup bowl once (the style that's like a big mug) and I never use it...probably some Goodwill impulse buy. It seems too much like picking up a bowl with both hands and slurping up my soup like a Three Stooges episode. And I assume you still need a spoon to scoop up the ingredients if it's anything but broth.

You need to keep Mark away from the QVC channel ;)

@Hedi Mitchell -- I'm not familiar with a double loaf pan. Does that mean it bakes 2 loaves at once? I use my loaf pan when I'm making banana bread and stuff like that, as well as meatloaf. Sounds like your hubby would enjoy the Kitchen Gadgets thread!!

my bad.. a holed pan sits inside the meatloaf pan,in order to keep it from sitting in grease. It is very nice pan.

@John Brunner - have no idea, he's is the most nostalgic, sentimental man I have ever known, He is far from a wimpish man, but he is very tender hearted and thoughtful of his childhood years. Considering Roy Rodgers was his hero, well, that says it all in some cases;)
