Our local power companies are subsidizing the cost so they are very cheap to buy. I'm 100% LED now. I like them and the technology will only get better
I took a dislike to the leds a while ago, tried them for a couple of years, basically because of the dullness, and the delayed on. I do still have them in my lamps in my sewing area, just have to remember to turn them on a bit early before i start sewing, so i have the full brightness. They do outlast the regular bulbs many times over.
I don't think I've noticed that problem in the LEDs, although I have seen that problem with the CFL bulbs, the ones that usually have the curly fluorescent coils. They are dim at first, then they gradually get brighter.
One of the last LED bulbs I bought didn't burn out, but just kept getting dimmer and dimmer until I finally had to replace it. It's a GE soft white 60/8.5w, the kind that looks exactly like a regular bulb. Strange.
The newer generation of Light Emitting Diode lamps are more efficient at converting Watts to Lumens than previously. The earliest generation of LED's generated a partial vacuum. (they sucked) Hal
