Pretty much, yeah. It's a one-chair barbershop and the only one that has survived in the 22 years that I've been here. A couple of others have started and died. There is a hair salon and, while I know that some guys do go to hair salons, I consider them to be suspect. This is just a barbershop. If you want a style, you would have to explain to him how to do that. As for the frequency of visits, I've always wondered about the fifty percent of barbershop clients who look the same on the way out as they did on the way in.
I lived in the same town for 47 years. I went to one of the two plain old men's barber shops. Tony (from Greece) was my barber. Then Tony bought the other shop, and I followed him there. Tony was there for a number of years, retired, and went back home to Greece. Then Tam (from Korea) bought it, so I stayed with Tam. Tam also had a commercial chicken farm. Tam hustled. When Tam retired and went back home to Korea, he sold it to Mr. Ho, a Vietnamese man. Mr. Ho had 3 female barbers. A hair cut there also got you a hot towel on the face and a neck rub. It was a very nice experience. I would still get my hair cut there after I moved here in 2010...I'd plan my haircuts around those times my job summoned me back to the mother ship. I've not been back for 7 years...since I retired. My current barber is from West Virginia. Not quite as exotic, but she does a good job.
Wow Ken, you look almost exactly like the Cheif of the First Responders fire/paramedic team on our local rez.
