I'm sorry I have not been posting on here lately... Yes, I made a soup and it was good.. It seems like I am almost the only one posting on here... Actually, I am the only one... I'm wondering if it is still worth keeping up this site.. I know that by posting my food almost every day, it seems to keep me honest, but since I have reached my goal, and then some, I am sort of skipping posting my food..
Steve--I'm not a low carber but I am nosy, so I always check to see what you're cooking. I usually post in the what's for supper thread since I'm not watching carbs.
Thanks for the response Beth... I appreciate you being nosy and lurking on here, but without any other support from more members, it becomes a one person thread which is not very interesting for me.. I lost lots of weight on low carb and obviously it works, for me anyway.. I don't know of anyone that didn't lose weight on low carb if they worked it properly.. Low carb isn't a diet, it is a food plan.. Personally, I am not deprived of any logical food there is that I want to eat.. I have a list of different main meals to cook, and I try to follow the list by not making the same meal too often.. My list is about 25 different meals.. Even when I cook fish, I make it different every time.. I will give this thread a little more time, but if there isn't any more interest, why should I continue only for me.. The New Year is coming and I will decide then what to do about this thread.. I try to do service and help to those that are on low carb, but if there isn't anyone, who am I helping other than myself..
today we have our first real major snow storm... a real big one.. That calls for soul food...… Breakfast was porridge.. supper was meatloaf..
chicken legs with the back attached, skin and fat removed and dry marinated for a few hours, then on the BBQ.. Even though it was -16c out.... Steamed broccoli..
There's another thread called "What's for Supper" and one about breakfast, etc. They aren't exactly fascinating but it's fun to see what other people are eating. Are you making any special dishes for Hanukkah? I'm waiting to see your menorah all lit up.
Beth.. I BBQ all year long.. It isn't the temperature that will stop me but the wind.. Even in summer, I won't light the gas BBQ when it is windy.. As far as a special meal or food for Chanukah, I didn't make anything as my low carb food plan doesn't encourage potatoes (which we don't have in the house,.... EVER), so we just celebrated without any special foods.. Tonight is the 8th and last day of Chanukah and I will be taking a picture of my minora all lit up.. It is a rather older one given to me and it is with small electric lights rather than candles.. I like it much better than candles as the flame of the candles emits a bit of suet that will make a black mark on the ceiling.. Besides, this one is sentimental to me.. It came originally from Europe (I think) and it is GOLD …
FISH of some sort.. Not sure what kind, but it is fish for sure.. Lightly breaded and pan fried in EVOO.. Steamed mixture of one carrot, one parsnip, and one white carrot.. Mashed with butter and chives.. Stewed peaches with heavy cream.. Pot of tea...
For supper tonight I made my homemade pasta sauce and I used minced chicken in it as well.. Spaghetti squash was the pasta substitute.. I have enough sauce left over to make another time which I froze..
Made my homemade pizzas using tortilla wraps as a base, can of sauce, sliced mushrooms, diced peppers, slice of tomato, and lots of mozzarella cheese...
Supper tonight ,Christmas supper will be a BBQ chicken I just bought.. Steamed and smashed carrots and parsnips with butter and chives.. I made a dessert of a pie shell filled up with S/F butterscotch pudding that I spiked.. Pot of tea....
Just to make it a bit more festival, I served us a wine glass of apple juice to make a toast.. We definitely don't drink alcohol at all.. Apple juice will do just fine for us....
