Reading back on some of the older posts don’t you eat red meat Steve ? As for us we’d only have red meat twice a week in average , like you all our meals are made from as much fresh foods as possible, we rarely eat any processed foods like bacon / ham / sausages or purchased ready made meat Pattie’s I make them my self.
Tonight we had strips of chicken breast ( I sliced breast between us ) pan fried in a little olive oil , once cooked added 2 teaspoons of basil pesto, and 1/4 cup cream , also added not quite 1/2 cup cooked spiral pasta it was filling and nice. I’ve made this before and usually use ALDIs basil dip with Parmesan (think it is ) ….that’s nicer than the basil in the jar IMO I can’t live without my yoghurt so I had plain yoghurt and 1/2 banana
Kate... We very seldom eat red meat and if we do, its beef and NEVER pork.. We prefer eating fowl of fish.. Chicken both minced and pieced is excellent made in different ways.... Turkey as well.. We try to fill about half of our plate with veggies as they are good for you and healthy.. I steam most of the veggies.. My burgers are made from minced chicken that I make myself in a burger press and then freeze.. I put them on the BBQ frozen.. I also use minced turkey for burgers.. I get about 5 burgers from a pound (450g) of meat.. My meatloaf is also made with minced chicken or turkey.. Hardly ever do I use beef.. As far as those prepared meats go, I so seldom use them that i can't remember the lat time i bought that.. I do buy store made turkey bangers (sausages)...
I' trying to stand more and sit less and low carbs. I eat a lot of salmon patties these days to watch carbs. I like to cook enough for several meals and snacks.Eat nuts and p-nut butter. But hubby is thawing out a precooked roast so will eat a small piece of beef, carrot, onion but no potato. I eat too much ice cream.
I've lost too much weight so I'm trying to gain weight but i have had to lose weight before too. I';ve been trying to use dirt and exercise for diabetes. No meds. But it is not easy. When I don't feel good is the time, I need to work out the hardest.
I also would like to gain about 15 pounds but it isn't that easy.. I have tried eating everything but only seem to be holding my present weight.. I lost 40 pounds when I was in the hospital last year for open stomach surgery..
Bangers (sausages) on the BBQ as it was too hot to cook in the house.. It was like a sauna here yesterday, hot and humid...... A fresh salad with my homemade dressing.. Red seedless grapes.. Ice tea...
Our veggies are coming in fast and furiously. I have some lovely green beans I don't bother cooking. I can put them in my salads or eat them like candy. Picked one red and one green cabbage. Can't decide witch to put in with a pork roast and a couple of apples.
Yum! Fresh green beans is my favorite veggie! I like red cabbage too!! I have a red cabbage slaw recipe that has small chunked apple in it.....it's so good. Well, we think so anyway.
Tonight was fish.......... We eat fish about 3 or 4 times a week.. Pan fried fillets of haddock in a lemony/butter sauce.. Steamed green beans and carrots.. Stewed peaches in heavy cream.. ice tea...
Turkey sausages on the BBQ.... A fresh salad from our garden with my dressing.. Slice of seedless watermelon that is as sweet as honey.. Ice tea..
That watermelon was sooo good that I pigged out on it and now I am suffering something awful.. No joke.. I should be more careful with what I can and cannot eat... No more watermelon !!!!
We went yesterday to Sudbury, and naturally we went to Walmart and I bought a BBQ chicken.. I also bought a Caesar salad kit and we had that with the chicken.. That bird will last us for 2 meals each as I like the dark meat and Annmarie likes the white meat.. Perfect match of course.... After eating all that, who had room for dessert.. A cup of real hot tea went down very well after that...
