Low carb does add some fruit and a lot of veggies, @Steve North , and the veggies have lots of fiber. It is the same thing that you are doing, and I did fine before, and then just got off track. I have been re-reading Dr. Jason Fung’s book, “The Obesity Code”, which talks about the effect of insulin on fat storage, and he explains that when you eat is as important as what you eat, to keep insulin under control and not develop insulin resistance.
Bang on Yvonne.. I was just mentioning it.. Everyone is different when it comes to the amount of fiber necessary to stay regular..
Chicken drums on the BBQ but dry marinated first.. Baked potato, steamed carrots, and sliced fresh mushrooms with a sauce.. A banana.. Pot of tea..
Do you have a gas BBQ, @Steve North ? I know you often cook outside on yours, and it takes forever on a charcoal grill for it to heat up. We have a little propane BBQ, but Bobby usually cooks on the large round ceramic one, and it is charcoal.
I have a propane BBQ and I use it all year long regardless of the temperature as long as there isn't too much wind..
Yvonne........... that is one of our favourite meals... We eat that at least twice a week.. Fish 3 times a week.. I haven't been cooking much lately but we still have to eat.. The BBQ with my homemade frozen minced chicken burgers, fish fillets, or chicken is what I have been making.. Nothing special but nourishing.. A salad or steamed veggies to go with the meal.. A fruit for dessert.. A pot of tea after a meal is always nice to have...
Fish again tonight.. This time it is fillets of haddock lightly breaded and pan fried.. Somehow a salad goes very well with fish.. My own dressing.. A banana sliced in heavy cream for dessert.. Pot of tea...
Wow !!!! That is a really old post... I don't eat 3 eggs daily any more since my operation.. My stomach is a bit smaller..
its been a rather hot week.. Way too hot to use the oven.. The stove very little as well.. That means I was using the BBQ almost every day for supper.. My homemade chicken burgers, sausages, different chicken parts was what I cooked..
Got lazy today..... Real lazy as my get up and go, got up and went... Ordered a large vegetarian pizza, thin crust for supper..
Very very difficult to BBQ as the smoke from the forest fires is quite heavy... Really bad !!!! I have been cooking inside and using the broiler instead..
Low-carb seems to have many definitions, mine is right at about 23 g per day. No problem, didn't even think about lowering it, it just happened. My largest percentage of nutrition is healthy fats (those have a few different definitions as well ) then my protein which consists of all types of meats, especially Salmon and Cod, then my berries, nuts, seeds, and my fave yogurt Two Good Vanilla (just 2 grams of sugar). You hit the nail on the head @Yvonne Smith and most people I have talked to don't even know what Insulin Resistance is (Metabolic Syndrome). My fave guy and book is Dr. Benjamin Bikman "Why We Get Sick". Lots to consider in that book, and why we have such an epidemic of obesity in this country. Diet Doctors are a good one to watch some videos on, if you dare and also Low Carb Down Under is excellent. PS I also eat bacon, sausage, and eggs every day (one or the other of the meat that is). I have so many improvements to my health at 70 years old, that many here just wouldn't believe me so I'll skip unless someone really wants to know. My MD and Cardio are both in denial about my story but who cares I'm not so stupid I think I'm going to live forever, but my quality of life has at least tripled in the last 2.5 years.
We went to Aldi’s and i got a whole chicken, cooked it in the air-fryer, which is almost the same as rotisserie chicken, and we had that with romaine salad, sliced tomatoes, and steamed cauliflower with butter. I made chicken salad with the leftover chicken, so it can be used for Bobby to make a nice sandwich when he gets hungry, and the dogs all got chicken scraps.
