Last night supper was my homemade pasta sauce that I used tomatoes from our garden.. Yes, I made a pasta (spaghettini) to go with it.. I know it isn't low carb, but I did it anyway.. We ate and fully enjoyed it.. No more as I used the last container of sauce from the freezer I made.. Pot of tea was really appreciated...
This Diabetes has almost staved me, I look like a bag of bones now. That avatar pic will be 5 years old in July. I was about 140lb.s ,got down to 108. Now I'm 112. I've never had insulin in16 years being diabetic. I eat nuts, chicken, beans and lots of ice cream, few other snack's
Marie.... Unless your ice-cream is sugar free, it isn't good for your diabetes.. Some of the other foods are not the best either,.. I am NOT a doctor, but logic will tell me that something should be done with your food plan........ As you probably noticed, I also have a slight problem as well where i would like to gain a few pounds, but not fast.. I eat almost everything in moderation.. Since mt stomach surgery, my stomach is a bit smaller which means smaller meals and more often.. Perhaps it would be an idea for you as well to consume smaller amounts of food a bit more often during the day.. Have you consulted a specialist about your problem.. I am sure there is someone that could guide you the proper way to overcome your problem.. My wife is diabetic and she controls it with a low carb food plan.. She used to be on insulin a few times a day, but now doesn't need it anymore.. She takes Ozempic once a week for her blood sugar..
fish............. Fillets of tilapia lightly breaded and pan fried in butter and a squirt of lemon juice.. steamed broccoli,... steamed cauliflower, ... sliced mushrooms with a sauce ... sliced fresh tomato.. Frozen blueberries with heavy cream.. Pot of tea....
Thanks for the nice caring advice. And I am not sure at my age I will ever gain it back on my body, but rather my stomach. I am eating more now and lots of tuna patties with extra eggs in the mix for protein to try gain muscle. I prefer salmon but it doesn't smell or taste the same, so I use tuna now in its place. Yvonne has some good recipes I want to try soon as I feel like putting them together too.
I've been eating lots of blueberries and Strawberrys in " whole milk " yogurt. They say the berrys help lower glucose and it has lowered mine. I buy them on sale when possible, freeze in small glass containers. I rinse them in vinegar to kill off whatever bacteria they may have , rinse good and freeze.
Supper tonight was a meatloaf that I made using minced turkey.... Soul food as it is snowing as i write this.. A large baked potato that we shared... peas.... stewed peach half with heavy cream.. Pot of tea...
The balance of the meatloaf but this time I made a homemade mushroom sauce to go over it.. Baked potato... steamed string beans ... frozen sliced strawberries with heavy cream.. Pot of tea...

my chicken burgers that I made and froze on the BBQ frozen... Steamed cauliflower with parsley on top, fried onions, sliced tomato... S/F jello served with heavy cream.. Pot of tea..
Steve I'm finding out that strawberries really lower my glucose. its been a couple weeks now enough time to know it works for me. Really work for me.
I am running a bit low on minced chicken burgers that I make and freeze... There is a special this week on minced turkey.. Only $2.00 for 450g... I will be stocking up on that and making my turkey burgers to go on the BBQ.. I have a burger press thing to make the burgers and freeze..
Fish........... We have fish at least 3 times a week... I buy a variety of frozen fish and usually pan fry them in butter after lightly breading them.. I sprinkle some lemon juice or lime juice on them before turning over.. We like our vegetables steamed rather than boiled.. Usually 2 vegetables and often 3 veggies.. We like a dessert after a meal.. Fruit is often what we take, sometimes S/F jello if I make some.. A pot of tea after supper helps digest the meal and we like to talk during the drinking of our tea.. No TV, ..... we just talk and enjoy our company..
Chicken drums on the BBQ............ Yes, I BBQ an awful lot and all year long.. Even in the big winter.. Baked potato... steamed broccoli... Sliced tomato... Peach yogurt.. Pot of tea...
