When I was growing up Mother's Day was all about honoring in special ways our Mother's and I'm sure my Mom who had nine children certainly appreciated having one day a year when we let her know just how much we did appreciate her being our Mother. When I became a Mom I loved being honored on Mother's Day too. But as my girls became Moms I knew that Mother's Day was not just about me anymore and so I started buying Mother's Day cards for my daughters and honoring them just as they honored me on Mother's Day. I also buy them their favorite candy bars and when we can make the time schedule work we have lunch together...just the four of us. We don't usually do this on the actual Mother's Day date because I feel they should be with their children then. This year we are having our celebration tomorrow. My youngest daughter will pick me up for Church and then after Church we will drop the kids off for their dad to take care of and we will head to Pizza Village where my other two daughters will meet us after dropping off their kids with their dads. Then we will have our own very special Mother's Day celebration together with cards, gifts and the best Pizza in town. On the actual Mother's Day I will be thinking of my Mom who isn't here on earth anymore...but who always lives in my heart where her love is just as much alive now as it was when she was still here. And my daughters' children will be honoring their Moms in their own special ways...just as it should be.
Beautiful pictures Babs.... I remember you posted a that photo of your mum, and I think if I remember rightly the man in the photo is your brother..is that correct? Our Mothers' day is in March...
Lovely! Every mothers day for a few years now, my daughter snd granddaughter pick me up and we go get lunch and pedicures together. She wants to do something nice for me, and I've told her I don't need any more stuff, so this is perfect. We get to spend time together, which is the best gift of all.
Strike One: My Mother passed away many years ago. Strike Two: My wife's Mother passed away a few years ago. Strike Three: My wife has never been a Mother. Howevah...we still honor my Daughter, who is the Mother of my three grandchildren! And a Happy Mothers Day to all you Senior Mothers! Harry
Both of our mothers have passed away. My wife was the mother of two kids, but one passed of cancer and the other of crib death.
Both our mothers have passed too... Mine when I was a teen, and my husband's mother about 15 years ago from the effects of MS ... However, it's not Mother's day here, our Mothering Sunday is in March...and I got a beautiful mother & daughter bracelet from my daughter then!! Happy Mothers day to all of you who are celebrating today.....
Thanks, Holly! I noticed that Mothers' Day is celebrated only in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, but not in England. Howl
My mother died several years ago, but we still have my sweet little 84 year old MIL. I'm the mother of 2, stepmother to 3, and grandma to a bunch of precious rugrats. Life is good.
I do the same @Ken N Louis ..my mother died 46 years ago, but I never miss wishing her Happy Birthday or Mothers' day!!!
Well of course not, none of our dead mothers' are, able to read a mothers' day card from us.... but I always wish her it out loud!! .. I hope she can hear me, and I believe she can!!
