Mine was not anything special, but I am happy with them, in any case. I made some kimchi , trying again to ferment it to a place that I like it and still get the probiotic benefits of kimchi, and I used half of a cabbage. The other half of the cabbage, I used to make some sauerkraut, and I like that when I am making it, I can stop the ferment on things when I actually enjoy the flavor of the food item. Anyway, I decided that I am going to be making more probiotic foods, so I ordered some of those little glass weights for the wide mouth canning jars. When you make kimchi or cabbage, it is necessary to weigh it down so that it stays completely underneath the brine, and I have been making do with whatever I could find that would fit on top and weigh the cabbage down. Now I have four nice weights, with little knobs on top for handles, and they fit perfectly into my canning jars.
Another bookshelf like the one we already have from Home Depot. Too many things in boxes yet and we will be signing another Lease, but this time for a year.
I made there carrot sticks yesterday @Yvonne Smith I’ve made a veg ( mainly cabbage ) mix in the past remember don’t add any more than 25% of “sweet veg” to your cabbage veg mix I tried to get some of the little glass weights for my mason jars but they are not sold in Australia grrr yes I can get them through amazon ( Aust) however the postage is outrages cause they are posted from the USA . I like the pickle pipes saves burping your jars ...I’ve got a bendy thing that fits nicely in the mason jars to keep the veg under the brine ( mason jars are my favourite jars for fermenting / preserving)
I have those little fermenting caps, too, @Milla Jonas ! They are great to use for making things like kimchi and sauerkraut. Mine look a little different than your do, but essentially the same thing. I am surprised that amazon does not carry the fermenting jar weights for people in Australia, they are so universal now, that you can get the same products almost every where that has amazon. Just read your edit, and $30 shipping IS crazy ! Back to using rocks, I guess..... The carrot sticks look interesting ! What are the little white pieces along with the carrots, and how long do you usually ferment them ?
I just edited my post to add I can get the glass weights from Amazon Aust however they are posted from the USA so the postage is about $30 extra on top of the price of the weights @Yvonne Smith
A new mouse for the pc. Optical, but still wired, identical to the one I have, $8. I don't have the mind set right now to deal with a different mouse, or setting up a wireless mouse. It may be easy, but it may not. I'll think about it tomorrow.
