Just made my yearly order with Amazon for my refrigerator water filter. Again I was tempted to save money and get the generic filter. I did more research and opted to go with the original filter at four times the price. The others don't give the percentage of things like lead that they filter out. The original filters lead at 99%. They suggest changing every six months, but I do it annually being that it is good for 300 gallons and I only use it for drinking and the ice maker. I once went with bottled water, but I had the water tested through the filter and it was cleaner than the so-called bottled spring water and just pennies on the dollar comparing filtered VS bottled.

    I was tempted to order
    a few age-inappropriate
    outfits but then I slapped
    my hands and said ...............

I'm the same way with water filters. I bought a water softener and installed it myself. I added 2 whole house filters (one particulate and one charcoal) since I was providing my own labor, and I only use the Whirlpool brand because the specs on the other ones are "squishy." Unlike you, I change mine way more often than probably needed. Being single, I run a minimal amount of gallons-per-month through them, and they have a 6 month life. But my softener has a 4 month timer that reminds me to run a cleaner through it, so I change the filters at the same time. As you said, it's still way cheaper than bottled water. I get my well water tested whenever the state university extension offers the reduced-cost lab services...other than being pretty hard, it's always tested fine.

This chair is so comfortable that I ordered another one. .... No heated seat, though. I guess I could put Miki's heating pad in it. It keeps her butt warm so maybe it would keep mine warm.

Miki might bite you if you take her heated pad. :D

I received my part and there were no instructions (I read somewhere that you have to pull the head off, replace some o-rings and torque the bolts back down.) I contacted the seller and he said "I don't have any installation instructions...I make these." When I looked at his online store, the guy makes all sorts of stuff on a 3D printer (his main product line is the little accessories you make a town out of for your HO train setup.) I have no idea why he started making these air filters, but the EBay product page said he's sold 36 of them so far @ $23 each.

I thought it was interesting. It's an exact match. And I was able to get installation tips from the comments section of the legacy Amazon page.

    Sony - DSC-W800 20.1-Megapixel Digital Camera - Black
    [IMG]
Small enough to carry in a shirt pocket with 5x optical zoom and 20 megapixel with many other features I have to learn about, and it's also rechargeable. When taking a hike or fishing, I'll see turtles sunning on a log in the summer that go back in the water if I get too close, not to mention skittish deer and other critters.

Ordered three courses from a company called the Great Courses.
Learn how to become an expert stargazing.

    I haven't Stargaze
in a long time, I received a reflecting telescope made by Mead, from the last company I work for when I retired, I think it's about time I tried it.
Two other courses I ordered are:
Learn how to invest with confidence and success
Getting your legal house in order

The latest catalog I received had a special sale on some of the courses, $35 per course I thought was reasonable.

I have done that, although not that particular course. The Great Courses is available as a paid streaming channel, too.

I love those guys. I've bought several courses over the years. They are not far from where I lived in Northern Virginia, but [sadly] they are just offices and a warehouse with no in-person services.

That's a great gift from your employer!! I want to upgrade my telescope, but Mead recently went out of business and I'm at a loss as to where to turn. If you really get into astronomy, a pair of powerful binoculars is also your friend. Looking at the moon through binoculars is seeing a beautiful suspended orb in 3D, kind of like a ViewMaster.

I do have a very powerful pair of binoculars that have use in the past.
Funny thing many years ago when I was observing a few nights a week I found I could find the Horsehead nebula with my binoculars, but not with the scope.
Back then I had a unitron refractor, with a unique turret eyepiece holder.

    Beautiful!!!

I know I've posted this before, and I'm sure you've been there, but Spaceweather.com is a great site for all things extraterrestrial (and it includes stuff going on in the atmosphere as well.)

If you have a recommendation for someone who wants to get a nice "bucket list" telescope, I'm all ears. Hal and I discussed telescopes on this thread nearly 18 months ago just after Meade declared bankruptcy (yeh, I move slowly.) He recommended Orion. Might be a good place to continue the telescope conversation.
