I was folding my laundry and ended up with another pile of rags because I wear socks around the house without shoes or slippers, and most of them have holes in the heels. So I decided to buy some with the non-slip bottoms hoping they will hold up better.

I also ordered a pair of slipper socks that have a non-cloth bottom.

And based upon @Connie Benton recommendation, I bought these:

She was right about them not being easy to find. Walmart does not stock them, and the first set I put in my Amazon cart had a mid-April delivery date! These should arrive next week.

Edit to add: I just added a dough whisk to my order. I'm a sucker for kitchen gadgets.

I buy more supplements online than I do in the store. It's not price so much as availability of the proper "form" or dosage of the vitamin or mineral, and many times the availability of the supplement at all. You're not gonna find quercitin on the shelves at Walmart.

Regarding books: I miss used book stores. I loved the smell and feel of old books, and finding new authors without spending a lot of money. Online is OK for computer books, but for pleasure reading I like the touch & feel of in-person shopping.

There are used books on line. Even on amazon they sell books from places like goodwill all over the country.

Yeh, but I like the experience. Funny, talking about this stuff brings back memories of all the stores throughout all the years. Used books seems to be one of those stores that all sorts of people have...kind of adult lemonade stands.

Aaaayeeessss I remember when shopping malls had bookstores, used and otherwise. I miss them. Locally there's a used bookstore next to a pet store. I frequently brows while our dogs are getting their toenails clipped. This said, I don't recall buying a book, used or new, during the last 20 years. If I see one I'd like to read, I get it from the library, or if it's old, I find it online. (Hint: Gutenberg Australia makes more recent books available.) As I've posted a few times here, we have book shelves in three of our rooms and the garage. The collection count is five figured and ranges from 20 to 200 years old. Also, as I've mentioned before, if I reread one in the collection, I find it online so that I can make the print larger.

My physical therapist recommended blowing bubbles to help with deep breathing. (Apparently I'm a "shallow breather," not to be confused with "mouth breather.") So I ordered a bubble-blowing kit from Amazon.

I also ordered a Lodge ceramic coated dutch oven. I have wanted to compare the Lodge to LeCreuset quality; the Lodge are a fraction of the cost of LC. I was disappointed to learn that though Lodge's uncoated cast iron products are still made in Tennessee, the ceramic coated pieces are made in China.

I must have my books! I don't generally read fiction and I need the books to keep all the facts because I forget stuff I need. We forage and do a lot of wild foods, survival stuff...Nutrition and natural medicine, mushrooms...If you forget which mushrooms are poisonous that can be bad:eek:

Received the Lodge dutch oven today; what a disappointment. The quality doesn't come close to the LeCreuset fit and finish. I suppose it's OK for the price point, but the ceramic coating is poor and thin in spots. Totally disappointing so I'll have to see how much it costs to return a 15 pound pot.

That's too bad. Lodge has a good reputation. I guess you get what you pay for, huh?

Yeah. Oddly, the Lodge enamel cast iron has excellent reviews on Amazon, so maybe I just got a dud. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000N501BK/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_3?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&th=1
I believe the uncoated, regular Lodge cast iron pieces are top of the line... and still made in the USA. The enameled versions are Chinese.

The pot (black tabs are packing material)...

    The finish of the lid...

    Poor finish on sides...

My complaints are "cosmetic." I'm pretty sure the pot would work as designed but I'm particular. :D

I think that's more than cosmetic. It looks like that coating will come off the first hard knock it gets when hot.

I've never owned a piece of Lodge cookware. The cast iron set I bought so long ago was made in Korea.

I'll be curious to see how they respond to my complaint. I sent them an email with pictures attached; for some reason their return policy is non-existent on the lodgecastiron.com website. (I should have ordered from Amazon but they were sold out of the color I wanted in the 6 qt. size.)

NOW I understand. I wondered why you even mentioned "return policy." I assumed Bezos had your back.

I can't imagine there would be an issue...it's clearly a defect. The only question is Replace or Refund. There's always the power of Credit Card Chargebacks.
