I've always struggled wit putting things in my oven for the cleaning cycle (like cast iron) because my oven's manual says to not leave the racks in there when heating it that high. I've done it, and it looks like it takes the "temper" off...they turn sorta bluish. Regarding the stains...both my Breville stone and my larger stone are all stained up. Fortunately, there's not been any smoking issues. These are tough to clean, since there are issues with using water. I have a vegetable brush that's just for this purpose. When I make my Italian bread on my larger stone, the loaves stay on parchment paper the entire time and they come out fine. I never really thought of the paper diminishing the "absorbs moisture" aspect of the stone.
Ordered a chain saw holster for my tractor: I can't carry it around in my front end loader with chains & shovels and expect it to last. They make chainsaw mounts that go on the Rollover Protection Bar, but my bar has to fold in half to get in the garage and there's a connecting bracket in the center, so I figured this option was my best bet. This is just a 7" U-bolt that holds a slotted mount that the scabbard nests into. (There are also brackets to hold shovels, weedeaters, etc that mount on the rollover bar, but as long as I have to collapse the bar to get in the garage, I can't install one.) I also ordered an air filter and a cabin filter for my car, and the canning book that @Don Alaska recommended.
Since I've been satisfying a backlog of tractor accessory desires, I finally bought a tool rack that clamps to the rollover bar: Now I can carry my weedeater and my pole saw and my chainsaw with me when I'm mowing the property so I can knock stuff out when it's right in front of me. I bought this from Messick's, since Amazon had no one I could ask questions of. I had to pay shipping, but Massick's earned the order. I'll figure out how to work around the collapsing roll bar issue.
Now you're just showing off! A bit off your topic, I went to fleet farm to buy feed and noticed pocket tees, which hubby wears. They were $25 dollars for a t-shirt!!!! So when I got home and threw up, I went to amazon and there were their amazon essential pocket tees, 2 for $16ish. Just to check, I saw Fruit of the Loom beefy t's for $9.41. I clicked on the offering and the price from seeing to clicking was now $12ish!!! each. So I went back and got the amazon t's. This inflation stuff is getting quite worrisome.
My husband likes Carhartt t-shirts with the chest pocket. I ordered 2 last week from Amazon and noticed they were significantly higher priced than a few months ago. By the way, I've been meaning to tell you that I bought a box of those creamy chicken Ramen noodles you mentioned, and they are actually pretty good. I put a pat of butter into the "broth" and it's very tasty, and who doesn't like noodles?? So I added them to the hoard of just-in-case-there's-no-food-this-fall stuff.
It is scary stuff. And we don't have kids that need fed and clothed and that outgrow their clothes every 3 months.
Walmart once sent me a case of ramen by accident...got put in the wrong box. They told me to keep it, and I found a vid where you add broccoli and peanut butter to make a poor man's pad thai (not using the seasoning packet.) It was actually pretty good.
I have small sauce pan coming, ear wash for the dog, extra soft tooth brush, and a product my periodontal doctor likes me to use. Have not ordered anything in a good while.
I see Walmart still has the pack of 24 for $4.80... that's 20 cents for a big bowl of noodles and broth. I wouldn't want it for a steady diet but it was surprisingly tasty and filling.
I am sure it is very bad for us. especially the seasoning packet. But I really like it. And that pad tai recipe sounds great. I might add a smidge of coconut milk or oil too.
I'm not sure the pad tai would work with creamy chicken...??? Seems like you'd need to start with an oriental flavored ramen but what do I know.
The thing about that pad thai recipe is you do not use the seasoning packet...just the noodles. I steamed broccoli and put in mine. I cannot recall if I put chicken in it. For those who don't want to watch a vid (I, too, lack the patience), the guy throws away the seasoning packet, boils the noodles, drains them, adds a couple of big dollops of peanut butter, then a drizzle of olive oil, then a squirt of hot chili sauce, then a small splash of soy sauce. It's more of a method than it is a recipe.
I don't have allergies, but some years ago I started having problems from the volume of particulates when mowing the lawn. I've been using drywall masks, and am down to my last one. I just ordered these from Amazon: 10 pak for $16.49, shipping included. $1.65 each Lowes is out of stock, but when they do have them, a 2 pak is $8.48. $4.24 each (lifts mask, spits on ground) Should arrive on Wednesday or so.
I bought some insulated long johns, one set for me and one set for my daughter's Christmas present. Some are on sale now. I don't want to wait for winter and more inflation. I have lined jeans which I don't take off from November to March. Maybe these will be even more comfortable.
I love curry flavour noodles, delicious over chips, we just boil them in hot water and add the seasoning provided, they are nice with poppadoms too.
