The GFS Model is too large at this time, but it rakes up the east coast of Florida. All other models are similar to Euro or GFS, except the Canadian Model and it tracks a tad more westward and then takes dead aim for the Florida Panhandle. A consensus is developing on the weather boards that Florida will be hit, but the where is open for debate and then who might be next. EDIT... the latest GFS has southeast Florida being brushed and then almost a due northward path.
On another forum I saw a post by someone (a nut) say that it was Trump Karma...the hurricane hit states that voted for Trump! This person was serious.....that's scary.
But Houston was a Clinton stronghold, so just the democratic holdouts in republican states. The following picture is color coded backwards, as blue is republican and red is democrat... As to Florida... That latest GFS model would match up with the democrat areas of SE Florida.
That's a good example of those psychotic people I told y'all about. They make the hair on my scalp prickle. It's best to avoid them just in case it's contagious.
I think it would be a good idea to go to Walmart and buy all the plastic jugs you can. Fill them with tap water and store them in a safe place. If you have room in your freezer, freeze them. Fill two liter battles with water. Anything that will hold water, fill it. Fill the bathtub for flushing the commode. Fill the washing machine. If you have large containers like fifty gallon barrels, put them under the drip of the house.
I'm all for preparedness, but consider these things... Ethylene is used in manufacture of numerous things from plastic milk cartons, plastic bottles for water to plastic parts on cars. Prior to Harvey, there were intermittent global shortages of ethylene as petro chemical plants struggled to meet demand. The U.S. petrochemical industry produces about 20% of global supply. 75% of the U.S. petrochemical industry lies along the Texas gulf coast. 61% of the U.S. petrochemical industry is currently shut down due to Harvey and may take until November to fully recover (much longer than refineries) It would be very prudent to quickly stock up on anti-freeze, as it is also made from ethylene. http://www.essentialchemicalindustry.org/chemicals/ethene.html
Supposedly the next NHC forecast will lean towards a more Florida to Carolina route. The clue will be how Cuba is impacted on that next forecast.
Actually, the "clue" will be when the two cold fronts get down here. But, it appears, notice the word "appears", that our area will be hit somewhat. BTW, any of you want to move to any Gulf Coast area or any Atlantic Coast area?
Several models seem to now suggest that Irma is shifting more east than the NHC chart. The NHC adjusts in increments, so the 11AM should see a more eastward shift, imo. Never really liked Florida's humidity, so wouldn't move there fulltime. If I were to move there, it would be just for the cooler 6 months. Of course, if I could afford those two houses, then I could afford one house in SoCal... year round.
Yes, Caribbean waters can be pretty hot. When we took our cruise to the Bahamas, and paid to took a small boat to "swim island", I was shocked at how clear and warm the water was.
It's not just the humidity, it's also the Palmetto bugs (water bugs) that are like cousins to the cockroach. They definitely look like a cockroach, but some are much bigger than a cockroach. They can be as big as an adult's thumb! And, of course the small Geico lizards that are everywhere. But, when people are making nice/high salary at work, no of them care about these bugs, the lizards or the hurricanes. Just like folks who make nice/high salaries in Colorado. They don't care about blizzards.
