The thing is, it doesn’t take a whole lot to cause an aircraft (especially one carrying a VVIP) to turn around. A caution light could have come on and no matter the reason, it might be cause for preventative measures to be taken. Okay then, if it was a caution light then why didn’t they report it? It would be another big hit on Boeing who is at present in a very large dog house,......or not. Pure speculation. As a note: Governor Bentley of Alabama did something akin to what you are talking about @Ken Anderson. He was at a secluded beach cabin with a lady other than his wife. When he discovered he left his wallet in Montgomery, he called and had a helicopter bring it to him and yes, on the taxpayer’s dime.
I think the security apparatus around the world was called into session because a nuclear-powered Russian sabotage mini-sub caught fire and endangered a whole lot of people. That is what the Norwegians are reporting, although they detected no leaking radiation.

Dunno. It was reported about 15 or so years ago that nearly 40% of congress was writing bad checks all through Washington D.C. Maybe they do not carry wallets but they sure do like the heck out those checkbooks. I guess they figure that since there’s some more blank checks in the book, there’s still money in the bank. Enter the likes of AOC. Gadzooks! I may have it! Pence’s aide wrote a check and gave it to the pilot for a ride with the VP and sometime in mid flight, the pilot was informed that the check bounced so they went back to D.C. !
Not sure if this is the reason, but Putin withdrew Russia's nuclear arms treaty with the USA. I'm sure this caused the White House to have immediate discussion. I'm really surprised more people AREN'T talking about it. I think it's a big deal and quite scary.
Well, maybe there’s a pretty good reason for it. The President isn’t quiet about arming this country to the teeth and even scrapping old weapons, be they nuclear or not, and building new ones. Perhaps Putin believes that we are not scrapping the old stuff but keeping them and building some newer versions which, is probably more like the truth.
