Well, you know what they say about acorns.........they don't fall far from the tree. I actually say some videos of her rudely pushing out in front of Harry and being very un-royal. And the faces she gives when she isn't the center of things. It was a disturbing group of videos. No wonder so many people in the UK, including the press, thought she was out of place. I predict an ugly divorce and custody fight in the future. Harry played right into her hands by going to her home country. It will be a mess.
Bess, I am beginning to think this entire scenario is all staged to garner sympathy for the royal family. Many in the U.K. have been calling for the dissolution of the monarchy for awhile now due to the strain on their purse strings. Charles has been blathering about scaling down the actual number of royals necessary to carry out functions. Philip told his grandson not to marry her as she's a show girl and whatever else may have been said. He married her anyhow knowing full well that his days were numbered as a favorite of the monarchy. Whether this will end in a divorce or not and, for some reason, I doubt it will due to the child, is probably irrelevant. Both will eventually indulge in his/her own life style and the hoopla will fade away. At any rate, I am not a Brit, so to me it doesn't matter at all, and I do wish them well. I also wish the Queen well and hopefully her son will lessen the burden on the taxpayers over there.
Couldn't be further from the truth Lois The 'last' thing the Queen would have wanted was this scenario. It will do the Monarchy no favours at all except an understanding for the Queen, but her days are numbered as 'Queen' and this business will be truly devastating to her as she has always been loyal and true in her duty
After reading these posts on Harry and Meghan, all I can say is that it sure is great being anonymous. Soup anyone?
Yahoo today: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are losing their royal titles as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, according to a breaking announcement from Buckingham Palace and a personal note from Queen Elizabeth. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are grateful to Her Majesty and the Royal Family for their ongoing support as they embark on the next chapter of their lives,” read a statement tweeted Saturday by the official Twitter account of the royal family. “As agreed in this new arrangement, they understand that they are required to step back from Royal duties, including official military appointments. They will no longer receive public funds for Royal duties.”
Actually, they will still be known as, Harry, Duke of Sussex and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. They simply lose the HRH and Harry remains a Prince and still 6th in line for the throne. They do have to repay the monies used for renovating Frogmore, but will live there when in the U.K. I doubt Meghan will be wanting to step into the U.K. anytime soon. I guess they do not have to reimburse the cost of their elaborate wedding. If he had abdicated, they'd have lost it all.
I don't know all the hierarchy, I thought if they drop the HRH, even if he were to become king, she would never have the title queen. She would remain only a duchess....much like Camilla.
