I agree about the not needing to do it now, and then the last minute arrives and I am rushing to get it done. Sometimes, other things motivate me to do something that i have been procrastinating about, too.
Like now, I need to clean and reorganize my kitchen counter, but it has not been important enough to actually get it done. Now, I am going to expand my fermenting laboratory (which is in the back of the kitchen counter); so it has suddenly made it to the top of the to-do list, and I am going to start work on that when we get back home from the fitness center this afternoon.

Edit to add: the counter is cleared and clean and ready for more fermenting …….yay !

@Janine Coral . Welcome to the forum.
Very few things I put off. I put off going to dentist ( two years now) weighing myself..Calling businesses on a Monday- wait til Tuesday.

I was going to enroll in a program to teach me how to avoid procrastination but I don't know, maybe I'll do that next year.

When I am honest within myself, I can mostly see that I have excuses that I must deal with regarding procrastinations. Sure, it might be nice to ”be in the mood,” but waiting for that to happen can mean you never start your project.

If figure that if at some time I thought about the project, then it’s been started. If I think about it a little more then I have even more done.
The hardest part is figuring out when I should start the manual portion of the job which admittedly gets much more difficult due to the fact that I get a headache from all that thinking.

My mother ALWAYS did the dishes in the evening, even if she was dog tired. I swore that I would never be a slave to dishes like that, so I always do them in the morning. Of course now the morning is in the middle of the night most days, as I don't sleep any particular hours. And while I am up I might wash the floor and the counters and anything else that won't make noise in the middle of the night.

Hi Janine, I used to procrastinate a lot but once I read G.K. Chesterton's advice "Anything worth doing is worth doing badly", I stopped procrastinating. I no longer strive for perfection. Just trying my best works for me.

I put off procrastinating because I just don’t want to deal with it.

I'm still laughing. This is very witty. Sounds like something Oscar Wilde would say. Good one!
