I just realized that I haven't gotten my January deposit yet but was going by something I got in the mail. I'll find out for sure on Wednesday if anything has changed.

Social Security computers now have a "technical glitch" that has shuttered all Social Security offices nationwide. Whenever i see "glitch" I tend to think "hack". Who knows? Maybe the Russians are fighting back, the Chinese are prepping Taiwan...or just technical incompetence on the part of the government. Which is more likely?

We just had that notice about 2 weeks ago that millions of SS numbers had been stolen when something was hacked. It seems likely that the two are related to me.
When I first saw this on X, I was thankful that we had already received our SS pension checks before the shutdown occurred.

The SSN theft and the current shutdown are not related as for as I can determine. The SSN theft was from a company that does background checks for employers and others. The current shutdown is in the "technical support division" of the Social Security Administration itself. I haven't heard when things will be back up.
