I'd like to be at the beach right now listening to the music of the waves and digging my toes in the cool sand...but that's coming in a couple of weeks @Steve North so I can wait At the end of last August 2016 my Honey and I bought a new car (2015 Kia Soul). Before that we had our old vehicles since 1990 and 1991. They were on their last legs and fixing all the things that was wrong would have cost us about the price of a new car...so we traded them in at double their trade in value and downsized to one, nearly new vehicle for both of us. Who are you most like, your mother or your father?
me too going off to the Sunny hot coast in about 5 weeks @Babs Hunt ..I'll be going to Southern Spain for a few weeks and I cannot wait ... I'm most like my mother ...all the rest of my siblings except one girl look the spit of my father... I've just returned from having yet another MRI scan at the hospital..I was in that flippin' very noisy machine staying as still as possible for a whole hour...very uncomfortable, and painful to get up again off the machine bed... Aches and pains aside..... When was the last time you felt totally out of your comfort zone
Just so you know Holly...I "like" you going off the the coast and do not like that you have had to be in that uncomfortable MRI Scan machine. I'll leave your question open for someone else to answer.
Okay, I decided to just go ahead and answer Holly's question. The last time I was totally out of my comfort zone was when I went to a Crawfish boil with my daughter and her husband and I did not know a soul there except them. What is your favorite dessert and how often do you eat it?
Guess everyone was too busy eating those delicious crawfish and so were not talking, Babs. LOL. I love those things. although it takes a lot of crawfish tails to get just a good taste of them.. My very fav dessert ever would have to be, fresh strawberry shortcake and topped with real whipped cream. slurp!.. ive not eaten fresh picked strawberries in 5 years..! whaaaa!! How many times a day do you get those robo calls on your phone? we get at least 2 or 3 per day. even tho we are on that no call list.!!
On my landline none,,because we're registered with TPS....on my cellphone?... maybe 2 a week. I just don't answer them, then I block their number so they can't call again.. Strawberry picking season starts here next week (in May)...and through to September)...we have a local farm where we can go pick them and lots of other fruits too... Next question..... Are you interested in space..moon landings...and all things planetary?
Yes and no... I can't help wanting to know what is out there but frankly my dear, I don't give a damn.. So they find some planet with life on it...... SO ??? What good will that do me ??? however I will still watch it when it comes... How often do you eat fish during the week.. I have been trying to cook fish at least 3 times a week.. I cook real fish and not the canned tuna or salmon although it is frozen.. I buy frozen fillets of Haddock, Salmon, Tilapia, Sole, and Cod.... Never Basa !!
That's really funny that you would ask that question right now @Steve North because my Honey and I have been eating fish almost every day of this past week! Our friend and neighbor next door to us but a new burner to cook outdoors on and every day he was frying fish to "try" out his new burner...and of course he sent a big plate to us every day he cooked it. There may still be some in our refrigerator at this moment. Most of the time though we eat fish once or twice a week and it is usually baked in the oven. One of the changes I want to make for our health is eating more fish and since we really enjoy seafood of any kind this will not be a problem for us. I would like for us to increase our fish eating to 3 or 4 times a week in the future. The fish I enjoy cooking the most is the ones I catch myself...but since I have been fishing much in quite awhile...store caught fish will have to do. Next question... Are you a shower or bath person?
Shower but just the other day I decided to take a bath in my nice oval tub in my bedroom suite, it was the first time I ever used it since I moved here in 2003!! I enjoyed it so think I may do a bath maybe once a week. Now I'm thinking of what I could put in the water?... What do you use for bathing/showering? Soap, shower gels? Body wash? If you bathe, what goes in the water?
Right now I'm using some fancy hand made soap that I got for Christmas. I usually use store bought soap. I prefer a shower to a tub bath. Do you ever get bored with online boards?
I don't go on the boards that often except lately since I have to relax my shoulder from pain.. Generally, I don't get bored however I was on another seniors forum and told to stop posting anything to do with being Jewish, so I left and came on here.. I wasn't bored, just fed up with them.. I am on a few other forums but not seniors..... Do you know how to swim ?? Believe it or not, I was an avid fisherman for all of my life and even owing several boats and I don't know how to swim...
I can't swim ,I grew up,in a very dry arid area ,yes the had a swimming pool ( called the baths in NSW only) but in my school days we didn't get to go to swiming lessons like one of my granddaughters has where she go's to school they have S.L twice a week in the summer months .. If your purchasing something new for your home ,like curtains ,blinds do you get more then one quote ? I'm getting a new Blind for my kitchen window ,which is a bay window 3 mtrs wide x 2 mtrs high ...I got two quotes, for identical colour fabric ( same brand, same name ) and one quote was $350 cheaper than the first, only difference is one has a shop ...the other is self employed ..big difference for a vertical drape
Where I live, I am limited to the amount of workers and tradesmen available to do a job, however if I have a big job to be done such as building a deck (patio) or construction work, yes I will get some different estimates.. If it is general work around the house I always call the same contractor who knows me.. For anything to do with electricity, I will only use a licensed contractor and not a handyman.. As far as blinds goes, where our house is situated, we don't have any blinds at all anywhere.. Not even in the bathroom.. There is NO way anyone can come close to our house to look in.. We have curtains but only cosmetic and not for privacy.. I live in the country, country and not near anyone else.. When it comes to doing some minor repairs or improvements around your house, do you do it yourself or do you hire someone to do the job ?? Are you capable of doing small jobs being it plumbing carpentry, or painting ??? I used to do many of the jobs around the house but lately with my condition, I can't do much work anymore..
Oh I can do most minor repairs in the house myself.. change bulbs, change fuses, plugs.. paint and decorate..change a washer etc...but my husband is a superman when it comes to maintenance ..he can do just about any type of repair in the house to a better standard than most tradesmen. Plumbing, Electrics, woodwork.. painting and decorating..gardening..you name it. He also does all the cars maintenances ..otherwise they go to the garage to be done by the mechanics if it can't wait until his day off to do it.. When was the last time you had a holiday ( vacation)... and where was it to...?
