We always hire a car.... although a couple of times we've taken the airport train to our destination, but almost always it's the rental car... Do you get deliveries of mail or parcels on a Sunday?
First of all, we don't get delivery of mail to our house at all.. We must go into the village to the Post Office where we have a box to pick up our mail.. If there is a package, they put in our box a notice to go to the counter to get it.. The Post Office building is open daily from 9:00am to 5:00pm and on Saturdays from 9:00am to noon.. Closed on Sundays and legal holidays.. As far as mailing a letter or parcel, it can only be done at the Post Office.. We don't have any mail boxes to mail a letter other than there.. If the building is closed, there is an outside slot to put the letters.. If you have a parcel, inside only during regular hours.. Remember our village only has just under 1000 people...................... Do you order many items from the internet?? I just ordered a new kitchen faucet from Amazon this past week.. I found it much cheaper than buying it at a hardware store in the area, besides they had a much greater selection for the kind I want.. Free shipping.. Full return policy if not satisfied.. Top name brand merchandise.. Hey, why not do it......... I did it and I am waiting for delivery which will take about 3 to 5 days...
Steve my daughter lives in a similar situation.... but she has no neighbours at all.. her nearest neighbour is a kilometre away.. She also has to drive to the nearest village of less than 800 people.. a 15-20 minute drive...to collect and post mail, so she only goes once or twice a week Yes I order a lot from the internet, most items come within one day ... Last thing was a grab bar from Amazon for my car to help me get out when my legs and back won't work properly... Do you have bird feeders in your garden.? We have 4 now, and a bird bath...and it brings all types of birds into the garden, from Big Collared doves and wood pigeons to tiny lapwings
No ,we used to but found it atttracted way to many sea gulls ,starlings ,black birds all who are PESTS and poop everywhere ,in fact I bought a statue of an owl with a bobbing head this summer to discourage birds eating my fruit, and pooping on my verandah Have you ever been on a tour of car manufacturing plant ,I have when my OH worked where Holden cars, are made , that car manufacturing is being moved to china next year ,putting 3.000 + Australian workers out of work
No, never been to a car manufacturing plant. Can you speak Chinese? If not, you better learn. They will soon own the world. I can speak just a few words of Chinese, courtesy of a friend.
As far as bird feeders goes, if we put one up, the bears come around and not only destroy it but want to eat the seeds.. Racoons, chipmunks, squirrels, fox, skunks, rabbits, porcupines, ... just to name a few that will try to get into the bird feeder.. I don't speak mandarin but I do like Chinese food.. Does that count ??? What languages do you speak fluently?? I speak English, French, and Yiddish..
LOL...I laughed out loud at your Chinese food comment Steve... I speak English...Spanish... a little Italian..an even smaller amount of German... and Gibberish If you had your time over again...would you have as many ..or as little ... children as you've had...?
Actually knowing then what I know now, I would of had dogs instead of children.. You get unconditional love whatever the situation.. They obey you when you tell them to do something.. They never talk back.. They are always there for you.. They love you to pieces.. I can go on and on but I think you can see it my way.... Besides they are much cheaper... Speaking of pets, do you have any and if so, what ??? We have a 6 pound Pomeranian that NEVER barks unless there is a reason..
I don't have pets, because we both still work outside the house for a living, so it wouldn't be fair to leave animals alone.... but I do have 7 beloved grandfurkids... who I adore... and who adore me back. I love dogs...and I'd love to have another one..but maybe when we've stopped working and travelling.... In the meantime, we have the beloved Grandfurkids.. Serious question now....feel free everyone to bypass this question if you wish and move on.... Has religion ever caused a rift within your family?
I will answer that Holly ,my long time deceased ex joined the Jehovah's after we married ,and sure it caused trouble, when my youngest son was 6 months old he suddenly became very sick and lost half his body weight ( he was 10 pound born so was quite a chubby baby at 6 months ) His father went to the hospital to cut off all treatment in accordance to his religion, I said NO !!! and took my son out of that hospital ,and got on the bus to take him to the children's hospital in Adelaide ... When I arrived back "home" two weeks latter I was evicted from the home by a group of "elders" of the church for disobeying the "head of the house" My son is now a fit 6ft healthy 43 year old
First on the religion question... I am Jewish and my wife is a Catholic.. We have been together singe 1990 and we married in 1997.. We have NEVER had a fight... EVER !! I go with her to her church when she goes and she comes with me to the Synagogue when I go.. We both respect each others views and there is absolutely NO problem at all.. We celebrate each others holidays with full respect.. Now for the eating question.. I am a compulsive overeater and must watch what I eat as well as the quantity.. In the past years I find myself not wanting as much food as I used to eat.. I feel full with much less food consumption.. I used to look forwards to going to those "all you can eat" buffets but now, I don't even consider it.. I am on low carb and have been for many years.. I lost lots of weight and I don't want to put it back on.. For my question.. Do you find as we are starting to get a bit older that it is becoming much more difficult to make new friends?? We live in a village of just under 1000 people and it is quite impossible to meet anyone.. We joined the Seniors Club in the next town, but there again, it is hard to meet people to become friends..
I haven't found that as of yet...although we do live in a small area, but through our combined jobs we have a lot of friends as well as closer friends we've known for years.... I'm due to retire soon, and I'll be looking to join some kind of club so I can still make new friends When you fly on a plane do you fly budget (cattle class ) or a more expensive seat. If we're flying under 3 or 4 hours we tend to pay just for cattle class... it's uncomfortable being squashed in , but bearable for a few hours..however long haul we prefer much more space..
I've done both but prefer business class...who wouldn't...not worth it on flights less than 2 hrs though. On beach type vacations do you go swimming or just sit poolside or by the water?
I live 4 minuites walk to the beach ,when I go on holidays it's to escape a little of our coldest month in South Aust, and it's to,the most famous beach area in Australia Surfers Paradise (.Gold Coast ) which is July / August here is Aust In the winter months do you prefer a nice snuggley blanket over your legs, to putting the heater on during the day
