What kept you from learning a marketable skill Thomas and how have you paid for your living up to now?
@Beth Gallagher I've always considered "seller's remorse" as one of the top regrets.......could have gotten more, should have waited, might have gotten.....etc. Always past. I chose to "Stand" with 16, and the next card was a "5", could've had 21. No one I talk with understands this concept. It's always what "might've been" in their minds. In mine, it's predict with accuracy the value of that next card; IOW, the past is dead, the future holds an answer. Frank
@Lon Interesting consideration! In my case, I taught myself many skills, welding, operating metal-working machinery, carpentry, hydraulics, mechanical repair, and machine design, Millwright. They likely could be used as "salable" abilities, but my focus was always on doing these things as part of the pursuit of my "play time", hobbies, if you will. I swore I would never run a lathe to make a living! Frank
I have NO Trade Type Marketable skills. I can barely hammer a nail . Carpentry, Plumbing, Auto Mechanics are beyond me.College gave me some knowledge of many things but my two successful careers were possible because of my PEOPLE SKILLS.
@Lon Tanner Um.......embalming? Or do I have it wrong? What were your successful careers, if I might ask? Frank

I was quite talented in restorative art of deceased individuals and made them viewable for Open Casket Services, in addition to managing the funerals The second was a 30 year career as a Sales Manager for Principal Financial Group specializing in the marketing of pensions, profit sharing plans, 401K's. Life's "pains", experienced by all of us to one degree or another, may be classified after due deliberation, listing them in order of "painful regrets". Invariably, I scratch a bunch off my list. Frank
I regret not fighting back with those who picked on me in high school. However, the one who picked on me the most died several years ago. I have no remorse! Hallington
I regret not having a proper childhood. I regret not growing up with a father. I regret blaming my mother all my life for sending me to boarding school.
@Craig Swanson One leads in succession to the next, from top down? The last, is a reversal in thought: you blamed your mother all your life, and regret having done so. Why the regret? Frank
I regret having to spend most of my childhood in a strict boarding school. I regret living most of my life with insomnia. I regret some of my life choices. However, my biggest regret was being estranged from my cousins for decades. We were more like siblings than cousins. We were at each others places almost ever week. Did everything together that siblings w'd do. Went to the (flicks) movie cinema, drive in, swimming, picnicking, camping.. everything. We watched each other growing up.Then, suddenly, in my late teens we stopped seeing each other. No regular visits to our respective homes. Not even birthday or Christmas cards. Nothing. It was like they ceased to exist and I had no idea what was going on. Many years later my brother and I finally heard the truth. My mother and her brother had had an acrimonious falling out over his new wife. This resulted in our cousins being banned from having anything to do with my brother and I. Here were two grown adults acting like children and who suffered.. us innocents.
