Ok, everyone, Beth just stated what she thinks and I totally agree with her. Unfortunately, if a person/people are already eating and see someone bring a dog into a restaurant, it's sort of hard to get up and leave. We don't want to pay for a meal we haven't even got yet. But, Beth is 100% right!!
When you move, find a place with a homeowners association. Then you can be "that guy" who argues over whether sun beaten paint still passes as a Qualifying Color.
Well, we all know the animal didn't drive himself there, so as usual the problem is the entitled assholes who own him. (Pardon my French but if the shoe fits.) I agree with Cody (gasp); people need to get over themselves and stop pushing the damn limits on socially acceptable behavior.
Like I've already said and will say again..........somethings are getting "out of hand" in America. And, as far as my complaining goes, there are tons of folks, young, old and older that are complaining these days about everything. Just open the Internet and start reading. Not just about dogs, Service or not, being in a restaurant, but dang near everything.
Actually, during the summer, numerous pets, basically just pets, not "Service" related, were being left in vehicles in the hot sun with no windows rolled down. Law enforcement has been called and owners got into trouble. So, today, instead of letting a pet/dog stay in the vehicle, the owner will bring the dog into a restaurant or store. A pet store is acceptable, but things have gone much further than that today. And, sometimes it not just one dog (no Service Vest), it's two. We ran into that in local Walmart. Two miniature dogs in a cart at a register. The dogs were very cute, but still. I'm just waiting to see someone bring there cat into a restaurant or grocery store!
I love dogs and I'm always happy to see one, but I totally get what Cody is saying. We all grew up with "no dogs allowed," signs on store and restaurant door, and It's just sort of shocking to see dogs everywhere now. Walmart is full of dogs these days, with or without vests. I know someone who works there and he said a man had his Pit Bull on a leash, but it still lunged at a little child who was sitting in her mother's cart. He also works self-check and says about every third person is a thief and he has to act like it's a mistake and say, "I'm Sorry sir I think you missed a few items. " Same people all the time. Store managers are just afraid of making customers angry. Cody, I wish you had been with me at Bob's Big Boy, a few months ago. A woman was sitting at a table, eating with her friends with her little dog sitting on her lap, paws on the table on either side of her plate. It was shocking, but at the same time I couldn't quit laughing.
I don't go into Walmart stores often because they annoy me in pretty much every way possible, but my wife rarely goes to Bangor without stopping at the Walmart store there, and I can't remember a time when I have been in a Walmart store without seeing someone with a dog. Walmart dogs are usually little ankle biters who are making a fuss the whole time, sometimes from inside of some woman's purse. Given the attention that most of these dogs seem to be demanding, I can't imagine that they are trained support animals. But there they are. As a bit of anecdotal information, possibly coincidental, most women who bring their ankle-biter dogs to Walmart with them are upwards of 400 pounds. I don't know what the connection might be, but it seems that way. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
@Cody Fousnaugh - not disagreeing with you entirely just saying it's not worthy of getting riled up about. Support issue has gotten out of hand.you can get certified online..so I am told. With a support animal you do not have to pay deposit on your pet for apt..or at best a reduced rate. So naturally that has been over used. Plus the animal is allowed freedoms of causing issues with very little chance if owner being fined, removed and etc. Aside from actual service dog like for blind, I have no problem. Those animals are trained not to potty indoors. plus a service dog is Not the same as a support dog,cat etc. People claiming support animals are the problem, not service dogs and their owners.
It used to be the rule that no dogs were allowed on premises where food is sold. There are very good hygiene reasons for having this rule. It needs to be enforced. Many people are allergic to animals, which another reason why I avoid establishments which allow dogs.
