The past coupe of months I've reawakened my pistachio addiction. I like other nuts, but I love me some pistachios. I buy them salted in-the-shell, so I'm forced to pace myself. And, yeh, the price has gone up.

I have gone gluten free a lot, and in snacks and since I buy no bread that is easy. The snack cracker prices have exploded too....everything has.j

I notice that the "WD-40" flavor didn't make the cut.

I used to get the red dyed ones. I don't know if non-dyed were available back in the day when I made a pistachio/cottage cheese veggie dip, but it turned out a pretty shade of pink.

Snack time!!! Now that I'm watching carbs  I have a terrible time trying to figure out what to eat, especially the all-important snacks. While scrolling around online I saw this keto approved granola on Costco's website and did a double-take at the price. https://www.costco.com/nutrail-keto-nut-granola-honey-nut-2-pack-22-oz.-each.product.4000146917.html

Since I didn't want to pay $40 to taste something to see if I like it, I checked local stores and found it in a smaller bag... $9.99 for an 8 oz bag. So I got some in my last grocery order and wow, is it GOOD. A serving is 1/3 cup and it is actually quite filling, plus it is YUMMY. It also comes in a cacao version so I plan to try that one, too, to get my chocolate fix. It is really good sprinkled in yogurt.

So if you like granola and are trying to keep carbs low, I highly recommend this stuff. Now I can order the larger bags from Costco!

    Your $9.99 for 8 oz. = $29.92 for 24 oz. Why pay $40 for 22 oz.?

Regarding A1c...I've been hovering at the 15 mark since the year 2000...probably longer than that.

    It's 2 bags from Costco... 44 oz. What's the 15 mark? My A1C was 5.9.

I thought the COSTCO was a single pak. And you're right, my A1c is usually 5, and sometimes touched 6 but always came down.

My A1C was 5.4 in February '23, so it is moving up. My brother was T2 diabetic but he didn't try to help his numbers; just took the meds and ate all the pasta. Drove me nuts.

On the A1C, get it down...

The A1C test—also known as the hemoglobin A1C or HbA1c test—is a simple blood test that measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 3 months. It's one of the commonly used tests to diagnose prediabetes and diabetes, and is also the main test to help you and your health care team manage your diabetes.

My last reading was 5.1 and labs say best to keep below 5.7.

I took Berberine for a year as my numbers were creeping up, it does a good job and overall if's a good support.. My doc said OK to take it. I think I'll get back on it and my labs have not been done for a couple yrs, so I ought to do this too.

I keep away from pasta, rice, breads, all white stuff primarily.......did them yrs ago.

My A1C went from 5.4 to 5.9 in a year. 5.7 to 6.1 is considered "pre-diabetic" and 6.5+ is full on Type II. Your advice to cut out the "white foods" is spot on. (But I love my white foods!!)

I don't know if cutting out bread is worth the sacrifice.

On the other hand, I know someone who has been on an insulin pump for over 20 years and thoroughly enjoys her 3rd servings of pecan pie. I'm not sure I'd let it get to that point.
