I do not play any games. Bobby plays some online games, but we do not have a Nintendo, and I do not know anything about it at all…..sorry, Denise.
That's ok, I found a website about "family" playing together and it's friends and family actually. People have to have the game of course, so I'll keep looking for folks that might play it. They have fun, little games, not like the bigtime Gamers, with all the blood and guts, shootem up stuff! Nintendo has golf, bowling stuff like that I wish the Wii's were still supported, but I see they do have them for sale still?? I'll have to check into it Have a great day Yvonne!!
There is an item currently in the news about a young lady who was stalked because of her presence on TikTok. Her stalker blew open her family's front door, with a shotgun, and was ultimately shot and killed by the young lady's former police officer dad. I'm very glad he was home at the time. I decided that I'd check out the app, because it's been in the news, before, and I had absolutely no idea what it was. Let me tell you, and please excuse any of my words you consider offensive, the app is a showcase for strippers and prostitutes, and a training ground for adolescent girls who want to move into either, or both, of those professions. I'm not a prude, far, far from it, but the videos I saw on the app angered and sickened me. Underage young ladies emulated the older strippers and prostitutes by copying things those women did in their self promoting videos. I could not believe that the app's content was not locked up behind an age verification barrier, online. I did see a few pet videos and dance videos on the app, but, by and large, most videos had very strong sexual content, and many appeared to feature underage girls. It is my strong opinion that the app should be forced to require age verification before membership, or even viewing, is allowed. Absent that, it should be shut down! I understand I'll probably be criticized on Constitutional grounds. So be it. This app is disgusting and not of much, if any, value. It is, obviously, dangerous, vis a vis that young lady, as above, who is currently in the news.
TikTok is Chinese-owned, so I imagine it would be exempt from any such rules if there were any. Leftist governments, like the Biden Administration, love China.
From what I've seen/read, many young people really like Tik Tok. No matter what the older generation thinks, as in us, many do like it and use it. Basically, today, for many young folks, the word "caution" is thrown into the wind.
There is a report button people can use I joined TT just to reply to an Aussie Pross who was trying to say the P word was insulting and she was just an Escort Girl.(7000 au dollars to spend a weekend with her) Two days later some one must have reported her as she was deleted off TT Dont watch these silly girls who just do some stupid dance steps I do watch and reply to a couple I follow a Megan Clawson who lives and does clips of her life living in The Tower of London. And an American (Yorkshirepeach)who married a Brit and lives in the UK. Both worth watching.
I, too, worry about young kids having the ability to view (and to post) this stuff. I really worry that they want to emulate sluts. Of course, we want to blame parents (and in some cases that would be the right thing to do), but what a friggin' world to try to raise children in! As you know, there are so many outside influences that have unfiltered access to them. Even the damned public schools militate against "good." It's so very depressing.
Apparently, Facebook Meta's head of Community Development was recently caught in a pedophile trap trying to hook up with a young boy. The mainstream media is ignoring it, but the Daily Mail, the Daily Caller, and Blaze have it. I just watched the video on a podcast. It's pretty disgusting, and it sheds new light on Facebook community standards. He's also on the board of an LGBTQ advocacy group. Maybe they need to add a P to the alphabet soup. That is one of the dangers of social media, particularly for children, but also for elderly people, who get scammed in different ways.
I quit Facbook months ago-but recently opened a new acct, but mainly just for me. I have only things that intrest me on there. FB is now hounding me to add friends. Ugh. Today I didtched Nextdoor. this use to be a very good informative socail app for your neighborood. Police reports were on there, many useful things. For last two years has really gone down hill. Fussing and name callind, ads ads and more ads. I had scroll through 16 just to see a local post. Another aggravating thing, for me was - addong posts from other states. I do not want to see what a Nevada neighborhood post has to say. Tik Tok should be banned from the US. SO is th only froum I am own now, and very seldom even used the others sinceI have been on here.
I do as little technology as possible. The movie Enemy of the State comes to mind. Every keystroke we make is available to the powers that be. I might just return to the real world and stay there. Have plans on how to go back. Sometimes my server goes down and I think, hmmmmmm, interesting; although many would freak. Of course I don't have a business or anything dependent on it. I might worry about my kids and friends. KIds have no idea about what posting on tic tock or almost anywhere can actually do.
I am on Next Door in a read-only mode (I never comment.) I'll follow an email link to messages there, but for the life of me, I have no idea where on the site I am or how to get to other posts I've seen. It's a very weird site. What's interesting is that there was a post from a guy setting up a competing site, but for a single county and maybe later the nearby parts of other counties that border it. I guess that ND does not view it as a threat. Or maybe they have not seen it yet. I have no way of following up, since I can't find my way back to it.
The Ring doorbell app has a 'neighbors' thing where people report petty crimes, etc. A user can set the boundaries of the area they have any interest in, but I couldn't care less about trash pickup, lost dog and blah, blah.
I was on that "other" senior site, and a member was complaining about new renters next door sitting outside late at night and "talking." Complaining about them was her "thing." One day she posted a satellite view of the neighborhood, complete with street names, landmarks, and circles around her house and the offending renters' house. All of this personal info she shared (like living alone in "that big house") and then she puts up a map saying "I Am Here." I was gonna tell her to take it down (maybe send her a PM), but the way things are over there, they would probably file charges against me.
I know exactly who you are referring to, John. She has moved, but is a busybody, and I pity her new neighbors. Why she lets it all "hang out" is beyond me. I think she's looking for attention. Always showing, and trying to get rid of her junk makes my skin crawl.
I run a photo group on Facebook, and play several card games. I am dumping a couple as they are no longer challenging. Keeping the one group and planning on reviving my reading group. I help my son tend to my daughter in law's memorial page. Check up on other relatives, and that's it for that media.
