I voted Brexit and those MPs who think they can stop it need to remember that those of us who voted ended with a majority for leaving. The Welsh Assembly was set up by a minuscule majority.Democracy must be followed.
So -Will the government survive the vote of no confidence?Yes.
Will there be a general election?Probably not but you never know.
I do not believe all the scaremongering about what a no deal will bring.
Will there be another referendum?I hope not. What happens if there is narrow vote to stay?Go best of three?
It's all very interesting -and if somewhere along the way we end up with Labour in power I will be very happy.

I 'liked' your post @Sir Walter Pasty , however I have to disagree strongly with your last sentence... No-one in their right mind would want Corbyn to lead this country ..good grief, the very thought !!

May, may not be the best we could hope for in a leader and her boots stuck in cement with regard obtaining Brexit under any circumstances is appalling too... however I doubt we will leave with a No deal, she's fully aware now that she will not be permitted to take the country down that potholed road..

I feel sure if the Northern Irish Backstop was addressed properly then the rest of Europe would be more inclined to meet our demands

I totally agree with all the rest of your thoughts, but as I try to stay clear of online political discussion, I just felt impelled to state my thoughts on any potential for Corbyn to become leader of this country

Last two post I utterly agree with.

As for Labour coming to power after we leave..no problem if its not led by that left commie terrorist supporter Corbyn

Do not want an election before its decided one way or the other what we do about Brexit.

PS I voted to leave as I also did in 1971 under Heath.

Jeremy Corbyn will be a great PM.No Tory government has ever done anything for me and we have a deep distrust of that party here in Wales after Thatcher set out to destroy us.I suffered because of Tory education cuts so enough said.
I might add I have a relative-a former junior Minister who represented a safe Labour seat-sitting as a Labour Peer in the Lords. We are a family of staunch Labour supporters.

No EU-member state is forced to use the € yet they can't have their cake and eat it, too, i.e. they either use their traditional monetary system or the €, not their traditional currency "plus" the €. The decision would depend on whether the majority in industry and agriculture would be likely to benefit more from using the € than without it, given that there will always be winners and losers as a result of any decision taken by a government. Some member states like the Czech Republic have been wanting to even be part of a "core EU" without being part of the Euro zone.

Those EU countries that don't want the € answer this question with nope and feel that they would be better off without it. Introducing the € means getting dependent on monetary decisions taken by the EU bodies and the ECB especially as far as government spending and, thus, national debt is concerned. Not all countries want that.

Would never be a 'staunch' supporter of any party, although I and my family were Labour for many years.
Depends on the Leader and their values. Corbyn is not a fan of the EU and yet has done nothing to get Brexit through or give
us a clue as to what 'they' would do. Blair turned my stomach so I veered off Labour for the time being anyway.
MAY ……. Don't get me started on that one :p

I do not think Brexit is or should be about party politics.

I would have hoped that both parties would have come together and do what the will of the people told them to do.

Both parties should have worked together after the peoples vote for better or worse.

That’s the way we feel here in the good ol’ U.S. of America but it just doesn’t seem to get through to our representatives in the government.

@Holly Saunders what is the North Irish Backstop? I try to follow most political discourse, but that is not a term I am familiar with.

Folks tend to become more conservative as they age, but it is not always so. Experience tends to educate and mature the point of view, but those who live in a "liberal" environment tend to stay liberal and conservatives who move into a liberal environment sometimes convert. I have read that Britain forfeited its larger role in the world after WWII when it elected a Labour government and socialized much of its resources. That froze the economy in place and prevented them from moving into the forefront of world leadership with the United States and Russia (in a limited venue).

"One of the pleasures of compiling the Yale Book of Quotations was tracing and cross-referencing different versions and precursors of famous quotes. This one is usually credited to Georges Clemenceau, but W. Gurney Benham‘s Book of Quotations cites French premier and historian Francois Guizot (1787-1874), translating his statement as “Not to be a republican at 20 is proof of want of heart; to be one at 30 is proof of want of head.” Benham asserts that “Clemenceau adopted this saying, substituting ‘socialiste’ for ‘republicain. ‘”

But I was delighted to find that John Adams had expressed a similar idea well before Guizot entered adulthood. Thomas Jefferson preserved this quip, writing in a 1799 journal that Adams had said: “A boy of 15 who is not a democrat is good for nothing, and he is no better who is a democrat at 20.”"

I originally wrote Northern, but edited it back to North...:) It seems from the article that they could make the Island a "Free Trade Zone" and allow things to cross the border freely without customs, but everything would have to tagged in some way, so that anything that left the Island would then be subject to appropriate customs inspections/duties.
