To answer the OP, yes. I think there's little doubt that distress is an unhealthy state to be in.

I was gonna say that the illusion of control is just as good as the real thing.
    Reality is subordinate to perspective.

@Jake Smith .. no real advice . it was a learned habit I chose to have. You can blank your mind, and being quiet and in darker room helps me. It slows the heart rate, and is calming to have no thoughts what so ever. I focus on one word and spell it out and write it out in my head. There are times, I can just sit and focus on breathing. Started doing this years ago before going to the dentist or periodontal doctor. Much anxious, this process would calm and reassure me all would be okay. With practice it can be done.

I need to try this before I go to the dentist, for keeping bp intact. Just the thought of them makes my bp go to the moon, and go crazy. I know valium and bp meds don't work for me. I will try it for sure, thanks, Hedi. :)

I will, and hope it will help me with dental visits. I seem to have some kind of phobia, of them. Dr. Samant said it's white coat phobia, not sure, but don't like it. :(

Yeah, it took me a long time to come to that realization. I was taking some management training seminar and the guy made a statement something like “reality doesn’t matter”. I immediately flashed on not liking that but had to agree with him when he went on. He said reality is what is but people will react to situations based on their perception of that reality. If you try to manage these people by harping on the reality, you’ll get no where. Instead you have to understand what they perceive the situation to be and deal with their perceptions. He said you can bet they’re acting on their perceptions, regardless of the reality of the situation.

They say even good stress is bad for you, does anyone know? Seen this below and thought it was kind of funny.

Being serious, IMO, I think that any stress is bad for you, even good stress too.

I have heard that good events (weddings, vacations, etc) can be stressful.

That's what I'm talking about. Sometimes, when things are going great, it can stress me out, maybe fear of how good it's going, and something doesn't feel just right about it. Sort of like that.

Also, another example is when my family gets together, and it's been a long time, I always get kind of a headache, from smiling too much, and trying hard to be nice to everyone. Everyone doesn't like everyone so it's kind of tense.
