When I was a young man and a soldier, young men drafted and joining, in-ports of liberty every where were getting tattoos. I never wanted one, never got one. Now that I am old and wrinkled I am proud I didn’t. Tattoos such as, mother, and death before dishonor, were popular with young men going to war. I resisted a mild temptation. But what bothered me more than a tattoo are these pins stuck in the nose or the lips or wherever. I used to think about the police dispatcher back home saying late one evening, “calling all cars, be on the lookout for a murder suspect, a small tattoo on left fore arm, Mother. in more recent years, after young women started wearing these tie tacts in their nose and lips, my police dispatcher might have said, “Be on the lookout, a young woman with her jewelry box empty.“ Meaning of course, she is wearing It all. I suppose this is only an old man's perspective.
Well, Bill, even though I had the opportunity, I never got a tattoo when I was in the Navy. Did meet a 1st Class Boatswains Mate who had multiple tattoos on both arms. He really gave off he impression of being a "hard-core" Boatswains Mate........of which he was and wasn't.
I've talked about how Machine Gun Kelly (drummer) and Post Malone (rap singer) looks, but just look at this young lady (27) in England. None on her head/face, but the rest of her body is covered. She states that people can/do get frightened when they see her and think she is member of a Japanese Mafia, but she says she isn't. She states that she absolutely loves what she looks like. Question is, and remains, is some of our younger generation going way out for tattoos? They call them "art", but gang members could call theirs the same. This was an article about a 23 year old Australian girl who got rejected from a Latin nightclub, by the bouncer, due to her facial tattoos. The facial tattoos that James calls "reva reva" are a marking of her indigenous Papua New Guinean heritage, but the nightclub stated: "While we appreciate that our rule has caused you unintended distress, we do enforce a blanket policy that prohibits head and face tattoos at Hey Chica! alongside other conditions of entry. While we understand this is a strict policy, we will continue to enforce this under the Liquor Act." On the club's website, its dress code specifies that "no face, neck or hand tattoos" are allowed.
I'm not a big fan of tattoos, although I have some, but I have seen some facial tattoos that were really quite interesting and not altogether unattractive. The ones on this woman look dumb to me, though. Of course, it doesn't help that she's making a dumb face, as well.
Did you put the reply on the right thread, Ken? My thread is about "city meets country-ranch". Anyway, the tattoos you have are the old kind, not the new kind where "anything goes" including a tattoo of Satan on a Mimi's cooks arm. And, when I ask him about it, he calmly told me "I love Satan". But, basically any facial tattoo will not get a person a good job and the military, whichever branch it is, wouldn't allow it. At least when I was in the Navy, it definitely wasn't allowed. But, then again, back in the late 60's, I doubt facial tattoos were even heard of. IOW, a company executive definitely wouldn't have them. A nicely paid traveling salesman wouldn't have them. Not a single person in rodeo has them. How about the Umpire for MLB, Field Judge in NFL, PGA/LPGA players and the list goes on. Just what would you think if you seen a young man/woman sporting a German swastika on his forehead and walking around?
I've commented in that thread, but this post is about the woman who is pictured in this thread, in the post just before mine.
Actually, she took a picture of hers and states they were put on her face due to religious beliefs. And, all I can think of to say is, "whatever"! There are those that can think of all kinds of excuses to do all kinds of things. LOL
I was wondering about tattoos/facial piercings and being a Dealer in Las Vegas. Here is the online article, from last year, that I just read: Can Casino Dealers Have Tattoos? – DiceChip Guess big/major casinos, like MGM, New York-New York, Mirage and others have a reputation they have to keep.
Hummmm, no replies to this??? Not trying to start something again about tattoos/piercings, but I thought the article was interesting. There are just so many people, mostly young, that think they can get a job anywhere with multiple tattoos and facial piercings...............most definitely wrong!
There are no replies to your post because most of the people here are not fixated on tattoos, like you are @Cody Fousnaugh . We do not like seeing the ugly ones where people have deliberately mutilated their face and body; but for me, and probably many other people, it simply is not something I care about. People have had tattoos for centuries, and it just does not matter to me if someone does or does not have a tattoo, or whether they have so many tattoos that they can’t get a job.
