http://www.stltoday.com/news/nation...cle_3c599e1e-b344-5003-b918-30a3af4b7808.html This is crazy! What was a teacher doing with a loaded gun in a classroom anyway? Especially after all that has been going on with shootings in our schools! Three students sustained injuries from a gun that should have never been in that classroom in the first place. By the way this teacher also serves as a reserve officer too. I hope the School Board is not ever going to let this so called teacher back in any classroom...more than that I hope he is not allowed to serve as a reserve officer anymore either.
That is truly crazy that anyone could be that careless with a firearm! He should have checked the weapon prior to entering the school (at least). If he was only teaching how to disarm someone as the article says, he should have been using a training weapon, not a real firearm. If he was teaching weapon maintenance, or something like that and had to use a real weapon, he should have had adequate training himself. He obviously didn't, since he apparently left a round in the chamber--a BIG no-no, particularly around children and teens.
Does it not take "all kinds"? Undoubtedly, many teachers are members of the "gun culture", as are folks from virtually all walks of life. One would think that a college-educated individual, regardless of whether technically-trained or otherwise, would have had the needed presence of mind to not allow this event to occur. Frank
