I bought a lovely grape vine at the garden center's half price sale and set it in a puddle in the gravel driveway to keep it hydrated till I could get it planted. I brought a two gallon jug of water to use on all my new plants but when I drove in, the vine was gone, pot and all. Texted daughter and she said she had moved it to the deck stairs because the chickens were eating it Probably why we eat chicken! They were digging up my seeds in the garden because we hadn't finished the fencing this year yet. Daughter said it is because of 'ch'. ??? Chickens, chipmunks or ch-deer. I guess I will put in my beans, usually the middle planting, next week after I get home from the reunion and finish the fence. Then I have lots of other veggies that should do well, even this, late to put in. I took another chipmunk for a ride that was going after my little green tomatoes and found two chipmunks drowned in my water catch container in the barn. Maybe next year I will skin them and make a vest? It's too bad. There are times I delight in the cuteness of animals, like the two tiny fawns playing tag in the yard under the apple trees now. And times I don't, like when they grow up and naturally prune the trees...
