We had Spanish rice and corn bread. We have lots of leftovers in case we lose power tomorrow if we get an ice storm. Going to start the turkey cooking early in the morning, so should have that to snack on by later tomorrow.

Chef John's buns. I's always a struggle deciding whether to make 10 or 12 from the recipe. The are large, but light.

Next time I'm gonna try to decipher the Fuddrucker's recipes and give those a shot...but the hot pastrami on the fresh C.J. buns was a good sammich.

I thought you had already tried the Fuddrucker's buns. I have my eye on the Breville bread machine but so far I can't justify it. I have some Amazon rewards $$ that are burning a hole in my pocket. :D

I see I posted the Fuddrucker's recipe a year & a half ago, but am not sure I've made them.

Regarding bread machines...I can't see things getting much more convenient than using a stand mixer.

edit to add: You have a better memory than I. I just found my comment regarding my attempt at the Fuddrucker's buns.

Well, I hate to tell you but bread machines are much more convenient than stand mixers. It's literally just dump stuff in and push a button. And only one pan to clean. I have an old Breadman machine that works fine but a shiny new Breville... sigh.

Things aren't getting any cheaper. If you wait, the price will go up.

    I wish I had a larger place...

That reminded me that I wanted to mention these. I tried a package of them and they are SO good; much better than any I have made. (About $3 for 6 rolls.) They heat up by just placing on the oven rack for a few minutes. The outside is very crunchy but the inside is soft. These are my new go-to rolls so I bought a few packages for the freezer.

Rice Krispie treats made from scratch (yesterday)

Invented in 1939 by employees Malitta Jensen and Mildred Day in the Kellogg kitchens in Battle Creek, Michigan.

I think it's too late to get the quarter. :(
