I’m interested in your all your info about the aero gardens ..however I’ve seen some of the tiny ones for $120 in a nearby garden centre and thought you’d have to grow allot of lettuce to make its “pay” the one I seen was similar to the harvest slim in your post 65 @Beth Gallagher but it only had 4 holes
Kate, in my opinion the Aerogarden is more of a hobby than to produce any meaningful amounts of food. It's fun to watch the seeds sprout and to "harvest" some parsley and lettuce, but it is expensive for what it is. There are several knock-offs on Amazon with good reviews, and a big hydroponics movement lately using the Kratky Method in regular containers. This is a good video explaining how the Kratky Method works. I might try this if I can figure out where to set it up.
Thanks for video I’ll watch it latter ..gotta do a bit of house cleaning now it’s just after .9.30 am
Very cool! It reminds me of some of the posts from Ina Wonder years ago. I have learned my lesson a far as ordering seeds form Amazon however. This lady seems to get everything from Amazon and may be sponsored by them, but I have never gotten successful germination of seeds from Amazon. Could be just bad luck. This is a good way to grow anything green.
I enjoyed this woman's video because she got to the point and explained things that were "need to know" without a lot of superfluous blather. Some youtubers talk and simper for 15 minutes before finally discussing the information I'm looking for.
Yes, she did, and she loved her log cabin and her gardens. Here is a picture of the log cabin, it is in the north part of Houston towards Humble. If you look close, you can her little dog, Izzy, standing on the porch.
There was; but her daughter told me that one of the family members adopted Izzy, so that was good. He went somewhere that he knew the people and they knew him.
This narrator sounds like he comes from down under. Commercial aerogardens, dairies, fish farms. I would try one if they sent just the guts with post it notes for me to use to set it up.
Lettuce update! The parsley still hasn't sprouted, but this is the lettuce at less than 2 weeks. The dill has sprouted but looks spindly next to the lettuces and basil. Today I'm going to set up the Kratky method mason jars with cherry tomato plants. Still trying to figure out where to put all that stuff.
Wow Yvonne, this may just be what I need!! I want an indoor herb garden as I am following a gal on Youtube that makes her own medicinal concoctions from her herbs, and all sorts of plants like Nasturtiums. I'll check this one out on Amazon!! I'll also read this thread, maybe get more hints on "how to". I've also learned indoor plants, certain ones, filter the air and that would be a blessing with my allergies I have year-round!
Nasturtiums would get out of control quickly. Grow them in pots if you wish in a sunny window and keep them trimmed. I had a friend who tried growing nasturtiums inside and they almost took over her house they grew so quickly once started, and they got so big and entangled she couldn't move them. There are many herbs that will grow in the Aerogardens well, though.
