And for those coming to the U.S. to work in the fields, it's a better life for them than what they are leaving in their countries, very sad but true, we don't know what that is like as we have The Good Life here...
I guess it's all who got here first who owns what. And plenty of Mexicans and Indians got together way back and that's why so many Mexicans have indian blood in their genetics.
I have been trying to make this point all along, and have tried phrasing it in different ways. It's easy for me to have a conversation with someone who disagrees with me because their perspective differs from my own, or perhaps they wish for a different outcome, but I don't get the idea that you think anything through politically. Rather, it seems that you have just signed on as a cheerleader for the leftist team, and are just chanting cheerleader stuff, which may have had some substance when the leftist PR people first thought it up, but it's awfully old by the time it gets here. You are not alone. Frequently, someone will put together a compilation of all of the talking heads from the leftist media, all saying the same thing, and usually using the exact same words and phrases. These are the words that you bring to the political part of the forum. These are the leftist buzzwords of the day or week, and when someone tries to engage you in an honest discussion about any of them, you answer with insults or another buzzword. It's hard to have a conversation with a talking point, particularly when it's one I've heard a hundred times. I am not suggesting that you are incapable of putting actual thoughts together. Rather, it seems that you are intellectually lazy. You won't read anything that challenges the worldview that you have adopted, and it doesn't seem that you have even thought your worldview through well enough to be able to honestly say that it's a view. If Trump does it, it's bad, but if a well-known leftist does the same thing, it's good, and you're not even bothered by the inconsistencies. Homelessness is a big problem when we have a Republican president, but nary a thought is given to the problem of homelessness when a Democrat is in office. When I ran a computer BBS in the mid-1980s, I had a simple AI chat program. When only one person was connected to the BBS, the BBS would show that a second person was online, the AI program that I had named Alyssa. If the actual BBS member called Alyssa into a chat, the AI program would answer. It had a pre-programmed repertoire that it would draw from, based on the words that the member used. Sometimes, people would be chatting with Alyssa for more than an hour before they realized that she wasn't a real person, and that was because there was no depth to her conversation. She wasn't a thinking person. She could only repeat the words that were programmed into her, and try to use them in context. When you post on political topics, that's what it often feels like. I feel like I'm wasting my time if I give anything more than a flippant answer, because you put no effort into anything that you say. Again, I am not suggesting that you are stupid. I suspect that you aren't used to having any of the things you say challenged. Since you haven't thought them through, you can't engage in an actual conversation. My intention is not to insult but to challenge you to engage in a real discussion, using your own mind and your own words. Since you participate in the political part of the forum, I don't think that's unreasonable. Otherwise, in your own words, without copying stuff from some leftist publication, can you tell us why you believe that it's a good idea to welcome anyone who wants to come into this country across the border? Tell us how this works out for us. I can't understand how anyone who thinks things through could possibly believe in some of the things that you say when it comes to politics, because they are contradictory. When someone points that out, you reply with another talking point rather than with anything that actually comes from your own mind. I already know what the Democrat Party positions are because I hear them recited on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, and NBC every time I go near a television, and I can read them in the New York Times or the Washington Post. Yes, I do read these rags at least as often as I read any of the more neutral or conservative publications. I hate Republicans. I have so little respect for the Republican Party that its leaders often makes me want to scream, and I see Fox News as a neoconservative outlet who would turn against Trump in a second if they thought they could get rid of him. As for Democrats, I see them as being pretty much like the Chinese government - on the other side. Yet, on the rare occasion when someone turns up in the Democrat ranks who says something that isn't intended to do harm to our country, I am able to notice and acknowledge it. I am not a cheerleader. I hold the views that I hold because I have looked at the information available to me, and used my own brain to determine what to believe, and used whatever believable information I could find, along with a view of actual history, and decided what makes sense to me.
They've always been welcome to come here legally. Anyone can have "the good life" if they work for it. Personally I'm not willing to share the good life I worked for with some criminal. (And yes, if they came here illegally, they are criminals.)
No surprises here. ISIS plotted to send terrorists to the United States across the Mexican border. -- NY Post
This or that area belonged to so and so but was lost to so and so. The American Indian was pushed to near extinction because we wanted their land. The same ugly dramas play out throughout history in all places. We can't remedy the sins of the past or give back anyone's 'rightful' place in history. . What we can do is start afresh in the here and now and try to create societies where all have equal opportunity and justice. I'm so darn smart I scare myself.
Why has no one mentioned the FACT that if employing an undocumented alien was a felony, to include prison time and massive crippling fines, the number would drop to almost zero. Our government has a very nice verification system in place and active right now. It is called E-verify. Basically a background check on folks that want to work here. However there is no law that it must be used. Why is that? Why are principles in the meat packing, construction and agricultural fields shielded from penalty if they do not use this resource. Right now they are allowed to hide behind "Hiring agents". No the principals need to be held responsible for what their minions are doing! Answer Dept.of agriculture, Commerce Department, Chamber of Commerce, and the lobbying groups employed by the Ag and food groups. Answer is not all that difficult, no jobs no migrants!
"However there is no law that it must be used. Why is that?" We know the answer. Our ruling class (boy, the term 'ruling class' sounds so socialist ) ...our ruling class wants the cheapest labor. If they don't find it here they'll scour the world for it. The middle class is the biggest threat to our rulers. A few rich and the rest poor is how they want it.
