The Check Inn Motel Overnight cabins at Roosevelt Lodge, Yellowstone National Park The Check Please Diner The Roosevelt Lodge, built in 1920 This has to be where we stayed one night in Yellowstone Park (in 1953 or 1955). I was 7 (or 9?) and remember those cabins. My mother and I were walking back after dark from the public restroom, a few cabins away from ours. We saw a bear rummaging through a trash can and we took off running to our cabin. (We never ate at the lodge.) . .

Looks like the Hotel in My Cousin Vinny, note the rail line behind the place. I know that rail line has been there before I was 6 because we traveled old Route 66 in 55. I specifically remember the highway in Arizona having white crosses each side of the road designating a traffic death precisely where it occurred I can imagine falling asleep only to be rattled and shaken out of bed heh. Albuquerque was mind boggling coming down the mountains during nite time, the lights of the city below was just beautiful. That was the last trip on Route 66 for us. New freeway expansion totally wiped out the private business on Route 66., and no doubt saved a lot of lives.
