Maybe you should ask authorities if you should evacuate before the flash flooding starts since the gully near you is already high, no?

No, I shouldn't have to evacuate, I just won't be able to get out of the neighborhood, that's why I stocked up on supplies. I don't have to go anywhere now until Tuesday, thankfully. The problem is mainly for those who have to go out frequently, kids to school, parents to work, and some who are new to the area drive into the water, thinking it's shallow, and end up ruining their vehicles. I am fine with hunkering down, as long as I've got what I need for the kitties and myself.

It's alright. I do have a heart problem as well as other ailments. I take about 8-9 pills a day, some twice a day. I'm a mess, but I'm a happy mess.:) Thanks for your concern and posts.

Well, we did it. We canned 13 quarts of potatoes today. We still have potatoes but not as many now. It's 'sposed to rain tomorrow. I found a new recipe for something sweet I'm going to try. I hope it's good.

Speaking of pills, I don't take anything but my wife takes a big handful three times a day.

Well, good mornin' all. Didn't wake up sweating this mornin' but it's hot in my apartment. The building's heat is on. My own thermostat is off, but heat travels up and I'm on the third floor. It could be worse I guess. There's 11 floors in my building and I'm happy not to be on top.
So, today I'm gonna tackle my many pages of much hated paperwork. It's 55 degrees out now, at 5:15am and supposed to rain today. I hope it rains all day. That way, I'll stay in, do the forms and finish my cleaning chores.
I tried to hire a maid once, but she wouldn't work naked unless I left the building. It's so hard to get good help these days.

Good morning everyone, and Happy Friday! Good luck with the paperwork, Ike! Reminds me of the guy at the checkout line, who bought 12 rolls of toilet paper: "The job's not over, till you finish the paperwork"!;)

Hahaha @Lara Moss That looks like my Ryan! I've got the Cornell Pond Web Cam going in the background to relax me, I love the sounds (and sights) of nature. Hope everyone's having a good day so far. It's a no coffee day for me but the tea is good. The flood watch has been extended until Monday a.m. Some of it is related to Hurricane Patricia down in Mexico, apparently. This house has never flooded, even when Hurricane Ike hit here, so we all should be o.k. I'm going to make some more cranberry scones later, a double batch, so I can share with friends.

What kind of tea are you drinking. I'm looking for a really good quality decaf tea that tastes really good. I'll check out your pond web cam. Sounds interesting. Yes, I saw that about the flood watch. It could be serious because there's something coming just after another is leaving. Mmm, scones sound like the perfect stress reducer…we think alike :)

I'm making them in steps, between chores. The butter is chopped and chilling, now I'm having tea and resting for a bit. The last batch was absolutely delicious, so I can't wait until they're done. I'm just drinking plain decaf green tea. I think it's Great Value brand. No money here for fancy teas right now, but I have a few Earl Greys stashed away for when the mood strikes. I drink about 4 cups of tea a day, so basic tea usually works fine.

@Joe Riley I watch/listen to web cams from all over the place. I'm on the Gulf of Mexico, not near the Cornell web cam, but thanks to the wonders of the internet, I can view/listen from home. Now I would like to find some on the Laguna Madre, that would make me happy. The cats are perked up because they can hear the birds on the computer speakers ;).

Here is a link to an aerial view of the Hoover Dam. You can zoom in, and pan around.

Thank you for getting back to me Diane. I like green tea a lot. I loose interest in drinking much of it from time to time so I thought maybe there was one that that would hold my attention longer.
