We only get them for a short period of time. In fact, I was really surprised to see them in the shop the other day as they usually appear a bit later in the year. They're lovely - I like them gently steamed (as with the pasta above) or raw in a salad.

    Vegetarian vampire ducks love garlic!

Okay Tom..here are my favorite greens..Swiss Chard..I sautee it with lemon zest, olive oil, garlic, and sometimes a little minced bacon. It's also good with scrambled egg and a sprinkle of Parmesan ..yum:)

Eek! Ours usually appears for just a couple of months or so. The stuff we got at the weekend came from Ayrshire. Cue an old joke:

    Is that yer Ayrshire bacon?
No, I'm just warming my hands.

LOL...that IS an old joke..but a goodie...my favourite bacon in the whole world is Ayrshire bacon.... I can hear my mothers' voice now when she sent me to the butchers when I was about 10 years old... ''make sure and ask for a quarter of thinly sliced unsmoked ayrshire bacon.....and a bone for the dog'' ...we didn't have a dog...lol....

I found and read it. I don't have the words to tell you all how much it means to me to see all the concern my absence caused. Thank you all very much.

Welcome Back Chrissy....glad the trip back was less eventful than the outgoing trip..:D It's absolutely lashing down here again..:(

Just spoke to daughter in Spain, she says it's been in the mid 80's there all day...

I made a Big pot Bacon, Broccoli, potato, carrot and lentil soup for dinner tonight ...trouble is that it's so more-ish I keep dipping into the container in the kitchen where I've put the leftovers supposedly for tomorrows' dinner... :p

Good morning all, @Holly Saunders I hope your day at work is not too stressful, I slept in later this morning till 8am after a couple of late nights/early mornings. Its a sunny start to the day at 4c and I will go for a walk later and make the best of a rare spring day.
Enjoy your day whatever you are up to.
