I woke up at 4 this morning, when my iPhone "pinged" on the nightstand beside the bed. It was my son in Washington texting me from work to wish me a Happy Mother's Day ! I was still so sleepy that I could barely read the text, and had to guess at the words. Answering him back was even worse; so I got up, made some coffee, let the dogs out, and then put on my reading glasses so I could thank him. Mike is the one that had the bypass opertion last winter, and he is now doing well enough that he can work at his part-time job at the local convenience store, and it is usually a late night shift, which is why he was texting me at 2AM his time. We have a beautiful sunshiny day here in Alabama today. Bobby is going to try and get that house finished up today, and I am going to put the mulch around the strawberries and do some other yard work. it is supposed to be 85, so a good day for the veggie garden to grow. I have lettuce started in the Aerogarden, and the little starts are an inch or two high now. The idea is that the lettuce will grow inside when it is too hot to grow it outside, and we can pick fresh lettuce all summer for salads or sandwiches. The information said we can harvest lettuce for 5-6 months from this planting; so we will see how that goes.
Good Morning, Y'all, Happy Mother's Day & Happy Sunday! Wow @Ike Willis it seemed to go from cold (or at least chilly) to hot very quickly up there. @Yvonne Smith That'll be nice if he finishes the house today, I'm sure you miss him being around more, and your routine together. I hope he posts pictures of the finished project. He could use them to pick up some odd jobs if he's interested, as well. I love yesterday's pic @Joe Riley it was perfect for Caturday! Hope everyone's doing o.k. I was up early like Yvonne, but all I did was watch television and read until I finally fell back to sleep. 2 houses around me had parties yesterday/last night, and that always takes a lot out of me. The sun's shining, and there's a light breeze. It looks to be a lovely day, although i think there's some rain on the way and storms coming this week. Have a great Mother's Day, everyone
Good Monday Morning, Y'all. Hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day. I was able to speak to my mom at length and she loved the gift I made for her. I put a lot of thought into it, and knew it would address a few issues she's been having, so it was nice to hear that she appreciated it and has put it to use. It's a medium day here, not sunny, not pouring, but somewhat of a moderate rain falling, with a breeze and occasional gusts. I'm listening to the raindrops hitting the windows as I type. I'm having both coffee and tea today, which is nice. I took my last antibiotic last night, so hopefully will be feeling better soon. I've got a big purry kitty on my lap, so it's a good day.
It is a nice day here, too; hazy and mid-70's. We went to the fitness center this morning, since we missed yesterday. I always feel so much better after swimming and sitting in the hot tub. This afternoon, I got the drip hoses set up along the fence line by the neighbor's yard, where it is always really dry. He has a group of huge old pine trees just on his side of the fence, and they not only block any rain we get there, but the roots suck up all of the moisture. We are trying to grow some ivy and creeping myrtle vines along the fence, and I have flowers and comfrey planted along the fence line; so I try to keep the area watered. The drip line should help a lot with that, and I put another one in the strawberry patch to keep it watered, too. On my rounds of watering, I noticed that my summer amaryllis has a nice bud on it; so now we can look forward to a beautiful blossom before long, and I will be sure to post a picture when it does bloom.
Another wet, dreary, achy, Tuesday morning. Been up since 4:30am. Brushed my tooth, took me pills, got my coffee, turned on FOX news, checked my emails and responses and here I am. Gonna need a nap after all that activity already. Gave myself a haircut last night. Left the whiskers, but mowed everything else down to the skin. All ready for summer now. So, today is voting day in west Va. Get 'em Trump. Well, think I'll go brew another pot of coffee. If you have to go out, be careful. If you need to use a public restroom, be extra careful. You never know what's in them these days.
Mornin' all. Another foggy, damp, dreary, rain in the forecast day, here in the little city beside the big river. Feelin' pretty good lately. Sleepin' better and all that. The worst part is the first hour in the mornin'. Takes about an hour to work all the kinks out and get movin'. Got groceries comin' this mornin'. Then, mail later. And that's the high point of my Wednesday. So far, that's all I got. Hooray for Trump. Boo Hillary.
Mornin'. Been up since 4:30am, just putterin' around. Mow, I got my coffee and am online, huntin' for liberals to argue with. Must be too early, none are posting on the local news sites yet. Don't know when I became so political minded. As a school boy, we had to learn about politics to some degree in history and civics classes. I wrote about the time I came home from school with a big "I like Ike" button on my shirt. The uproar that caused me with my parents convinced me I must be adopted. Anyway, I think it's important to know what's goin' on in politics. Growin' up, all I ever heard was "democrats is for the workin' man". And the "workin' man" had to keep workin' harder and harder, right up to the end. So, I'm primed for a fight today. Off I go, in search of prey. If you go out, remember. Nothing is what it seems, these days.
Gadzooks! that is a funny name!! I don't think I have ever been in Forever 21 but I know that is one of the stores that is popular with the younger set. I once did some surveying at a mall not far from here, and I found out a number of stores, that were popular with the younger generation that I was totally unfamiliar with..being the oldish fart I am...live and learn!
OH, I wish to wish everyone good morning. We have another one of those days here,,,overcast and gloomy, the way it has been for about a month. We had April's weather in March..and May's weather in April, and now we are back to April again it seems. Rainy, and cool just about every day. It would be nice to see the sun, but I don't care that much, because at least I am not racking up an AC bill as I would be normally this time of year.
Mornin'. Here in Iowa, we're waking up to 46 degrees under clear skies. However, we are expecting rain this evening. But hey, it's Friday. Payday, for the lucky ones out there. Does anyone still get paid every Friday? When I started working full time, back in those long ago times of the late 1950's, we got paid every Friday. I even worked in one place in the early 1960's that not only paid on Friday, but paid us in cash. Then it seems, everyone started paying every two weeks. Now, I get paid once a month, whether I need it or not. The big news story on a local news site is Obama threatening to withhold funding to schools unless the schools allow transgender students to use the bathroom of their choice. IMHO, it's not a bathroom issue with those students. It's a mental issue. So, be safe out there. Pee at home.
I find myself between the Good morning and the Good night threads! So I'll just drop off a Good evening to all! All's well. that ends well! "Today, I caught a fish This big"!
We had a busy day today. Went to the fitness center this morning, then off to Harbor Freight Tools where Bobby got some more of the face masks he needs when spraying the stain in that house he is rennovating on the street behind us. After that, we stopped at Sam's Club for our monthly shopping trip there for the things we buy in larger quantities, like coffee, butter, tuna fish, and stuff like that, and also more protein powder for our protein drinks. Then , we both went in to see our doctor for the annual Medicare checkups, and got that out of the way. By the time we got back home and unloaded the groceries, it was around 4PM, so a full day of running for us today. Supper was just snacking foods. Bobby had watermelon and a peanut butter sandwich. I had a romaine salad with fresh ranch dressing that I made with my kefir instead of buttermilk.
Mornin'. We got rain last evening and into the night. Now, it's only 41 degrees at 7:45am. It's supposed to only hit the mid 50's for a high today. WTH? I overslept this morning. Woke up at 4am. Figured "just a few more minutes". Then suddenly, it was almost 6am. Need to do laundry. Better get going.
Wow, it sounds as if your weather's all over the place lately @Ike Willis. Yay for sleeping in, you probably needed it. It's overcast here, has been raining off and on since yesterday, and there was some flooding again up in Houston, but none here that I'm aware of. The For Rent sign is down next door. I thought that probably meant someone had rented the place, but now I see a pile of carpet lying outside, so perhaps he's decided to actually fix it up some more before renting. I don't know what's wrong with these lazy cheap landlords, they don't want to put any work into maintaining or fixing up the places, and just expect the money to pour in. I cooked up a package of maple sausage patties this morning. I thought I'd pulled out some chicken tenders from the freezer, but when I looked this morning, it was a package of sausage patties, so it was meant to be. Breakfast was a couple of those (they're really small, about silver dollar sized), an egg, and a piece of toast, toasted to perfection. I'm having both tea and coffee today, and I added some cinnamon to the ground coffee before brewing it. It's a meal fit for a Sunday. Hope y'all are having a great day!
