Welcome back, @Corie Henson ! ! We have missed you around here . Happy Birthday to Pipoy from all of us at Seniors Only , and I hope he enjoys what ever kind of birthday surprise you got for him. As you are getting into the cooler weather, we are moving into the heat of summer, at least down here in Alabama. It is cooler right now; but the temps have been around 90 most of this week, and we even had to turn on the air-conditioning several times during the day. Right now, it is still getting cool enough here at night that we can just open the windows and let the cool breeze in; but by next month, it will be too warm and humid at night to do that anymore, too. Be sure and post the picture of Pipoy blowing out the candles on his cake.......... I am SO looking forward to seeing him do that , Corie ! !
Mornin'. It's a clear, sunny 64 degrees at 6am here in the little city on the west bank of the mighty Mississippi river. Been up since 5am, got dressed, got breakfast, took all my meds, got my coffee and here I am. Nothing to do, nowhere to go. Think I'll just kick back and hang out online, nap, watch TV, pretty much what I do every day. Enjoy the weekend, y'all. But remember, the P C cops are watching your every move.
Ike, you sound like my dad, he is the very same way. Anyway, I am going to go to a movie today...we are sort of under the generalized tropical storm threat here..but I am hoping the hurricane effect won't come this far west. However, I doubt we will totally escape potential downpours. I plan to go to a movie today the Nice Guys, although I noticed a cool yardsale in my region, however, I don't think I am going to get there. It is a bit out of the way.
Good Morning, Y'all! Welcome Back @Corie Henson, and Happy Birthday to Pipoy! Yes, I'd like to see pics of that as well. Pets bring us so much joy it's nice to celebrate them . The sky's less sunny than yesterday, and the AC isn't on yet, but it will be later, I'm sure. Hopefully it won't get too hot. I can't wait until I feel o.k. enough to go for a walk. I've really been itching to hit the trails again, and get some nice nature pictures. I somehow messed up the settings on my camera yesterday. I tried to reset them, and took some pictures, so I'll have to look at them later or tomorrow and see if it's fixed. I made the mistake of having a cup of coffee last night. Thankfully, I can tolerate green tea, although not my favorite, black. Hope everyone's having a nice Sunday and enjoying this holiday weekend (those in the U.S.) @Joe Riley Those waffles look amazing!
Mornin'. A partly cloudy 63 degrees starts the day here in the little city on Iowa's east coast. It's 6am, got my coffee, got dressed, got FOX news on, dang, it'll be nap time before I know it. Been trying to cut my coffee consumption to about one cup (mug). Mr. Coffee says a cup is 5oz. My mug holds about 3 of their cups. So, I had to adjust everything down to the minimum. I love coffee. I see they have coffee ice cream. And coffee and chocolate go well together. I used to see chocolate bars with coffee in them. Loved them but never see them around here anymore. I see by the calendar that Friday is payday. They're gonna give us more money rather we need or want it or not. I remember working in one factory back in 1958 or 59. I ask for a raise because they kept adding more jobs to my duties. The super came back and motioned me aside. I got you a nickel an hour more but don't tell any of the others, he whispered. I told him not to worry, I was ashamed of it too. Another place I worked once told me they couldn't give me a raise, but I could work all the overtime hours I wanted. I was 18, had a car and friends. I was already working Saturdays. I found another job that paid more for a lot fewer hours. So, I'm enjoying retirement. Don't mind it a bit if I have nothing to do and nowhere to go. So, if you go out, P O liberals. Look and act happy. Liberals hate happiness.
Morning Blessings to one and all. Take a few minutes this day to say a prayer for our Veterans who gave their lives to keep America safe and free and to ask God to bless all those Veterans and their families who have or are serving our Country now. And if you know some Veterans, today would be a wonderful day to tell them personally how much you appreciate their sacrifice for all of us and America. Wherever you are and whatever your plans for today...may all of you be blessed in every way! @Ike Willis Did your grandsons race get rained out this past Friday and if not how did the race go?
He raced in two races. Started at 10th spot and finished in 5th place in one race. He's in the lead by a nose in this race. Car #40.
Good Morning, Y'all. It's looking to be a lovely Memorial Day. For those in Europe and elsewhere, do y'all have a Memorial Day also, where you celebrate those who've given all fighting for your countries? It's nice and quiet here, at least for now. The birds are chirping in the trees by the balcony. I hear a dog barking off in the distance. The cats are all fed and happy, and so am I. I woke up earlier, but thankfully, wasn't up all night again, yay. @Ike Willis Does your grandson race near where you live, and if so, do you ever get to go see him race in person? Your story reminded me of having to bust my butt for a nickel raise at McDonald's when I was a teenager. The kiss ups got a dime. I wasn't a good kiss up, and don't tolerate them very well . I still have a few chores to do, and am hoping to make the coconut bars today. I couldn't handle the thought of sweet stuff yesterday, so had to put it off again. After that, it all rest, for the remainder of the day . Have a nice one, y'all.
Yes, he races in towns near here. I don't travel well anymore, and can't deal with those fairground bleachers. The races last for 5-6 hours sometimes.
Good morning to one and all. It is hot and humid where I live in Texas even though it will only be in the mid-80's today. It is amazing how high humidity can cause it to feel so hot and oppressive outside. But, as my older brother would say, any day above ground is a good day! Hope all of you have a good Monday.
I understand that, @Ike Willis. I bought my mom a padded cushion to carry with her & use back when my nieces were still in high school and involved in all sorts of sports and cheering, because she was always mentioning how uncomfortable the bleachers were. I don't know if she ever used it, but I have difficulty with some regular seats, nevermind uncomfortable bench seating. Good Morning, Y'all. The sun's shining again, and the AC is already on, so I can tell it's going to be a scorcher. Even though I'm not working, I'm still always glad when it's a short week. It seems to take me at least 3 days to accomplish what used to take 2, so long weekends are always welcome. Hope everyone has a nice day!
Good Morning, Y'all, happy mid week. It's nice to reach mid week sooner than anticipated, since yesterday started the week, after the long holiday weekend. I just heard a small plane overhead, which is always a bit concerning when the news is talking about potentially more torrential rains, especially in light of how much precipitation we've already received. I'm hoping to head out in a bit for a supplies run to hold me over until next week. The weather today is supposed to turn stormy, and stay that way until Monday. Have a great day, everyone!
Good morning, all! Looks to be a bit of a rainy Thursday, around here. Hope you have a "Wunnerful" day!
