Mornin'. I'm off to kind of a late start. Woke up early but fell back asleep.
I can hear thunder rumbling out there. Didn't look to see if it's raining. Don't care anyway. ain't going out.
Today is grocery day. Good. I'm running outta corn flakes and milk. And everything else.
Watched the movie, "Undrafted" last night. It's about a minor league team and a player who thought he would get picked for a major league team, but was not. Lots of funny stuff and laughs.
Gotta check up on my family. Had to watch 'em like a hawk from childhood on. You know how kids are.
So, if you're out in public today, laugh out loud when people are around. Laughter annoys liberals.:D

Good Morning All! Slept well last night, I think the owner is finally picking up the little dog today, but there is the possibility he may be back this weekend, long story! Aren't they all? Today is supposed to be "cool" if you can call upper 80's cool, so I am going to finish some grass cutting after I get some more gas. I have a few other projects to do as well. I have to get my w9 situation straightened out for one. Well, take care y'all. Have a good day!

image.jpg Good Morning everyone, a cool 96 degrees today. A few nice days and by Sunday it will be 108 for the next 7-10 days give a degree or two.

I woke up at 2:00 and I'm really dragging and since I had breakfast early, I'll probably be having lunch at 9 am and dinner at 2 pm. Looks like today will be an extra meal day.

    A joke for Hump day.....

What is a camel without humps called?

    HUMPHREY :)

Hi Everyone, Good Afternoon. It's not that I wasn't up halfway through the night as usual, but I put my energy elsewhere. I've been working on some projects here, and also trying to knock some shows off the DVR, because I might be turning in the equipment. It's really hot out there, and I hope everyone is staying cool. I've got an umbrella over some of the plants. I hope it helps, and keeps them alive. It doesn't seem to be raining as much as it did last year during the really hot part of the Summer, but we sure got enough a few months ago, and I don't want that back, although a little now and then would be nice. Have a nice afternoon/evening!

We retrace our steps to the outside and then checked the car and there it was, down the side of the seat
The naughty little key must have worked its way out, not that I blame 'im - its bloomin hot in that car !
Even the Sun itself has had enough :p

Another late start. I had an extremely bad night. Won't go into details, but I'm still alive and got coffee.:)
It's gonna be another hot scorcher of a day here in the little city in the notch. Supposed to hit 95+ and the humidity is high.
Back in the not too distant past, I had a tape deck and many, many movies. In hot weather, I would watch my snow movies. "A simple plan", "Reindeer games" "Groundhog day" and others. They took my mind off the heat.
Thinking of winter reminds me of another long ago winter. I was out tramping about along a smaller river west of town. I had a .22 rifle, in case I saw any game.
As I rounded a stand of willows, there he was. A beautiful red fox, standing at the edge of the river. The instant he saw me, he ran out onto a stretch of ice connected to a small island in the channel. Near the island, he stopped for a brief instant, to look back. I drew down on him, but held my shot. Had I hit him, I couldn't have retrieved him. The ice wouldn't have held me.
So, I watched him disappear into the island's brush.
Well, if you're in a hot area as I am, stay cool. If you see any hot, sweaty liberals, act cheerful. It drives 'em crazy.:D

Red fox are beautiful critters. I only shot one and wished later I hadn't. I'd much rather shoot coyotes.

That's similar to what I do @Ike Willis, I tend to watch Alaska movies and others about colder climate places. It definitely does distract the mind from the heat of the day/night. Today's going to be the hottest day so far here, I believe. I got an email from the electric company asking that 'I' cut back on the AC this afternoon. I find that irritating, even though I know it's not directed at me personally, but at all of their customers. I keep my thermostat between 77 and 79, depending on the temperature and also how I'm feeling. Many here keep theirs around 60, which is ridiculous, and those are the ones who should receive special warnings/requests, not the rest of us who are judicious in our use of energy.

Good Morning, Y'all. It was an early day again, although i did catch about a half hour of sleep afterwards. I had a nice cup of hot tea with lemon and honey, since the chest crud (Houston crud is what we call it) is acting up today. I'll go make another cup in a bit, with a slice of the Lemon Blueberry Bread I made yesterday. Hope everyone is having a nice day.

Good Morning ALL! I expected to be "hotted in" for the next several Days. Whatever going out I do, is going to be at night, when the temps are down for the next several days. I am pretty stocked up in here, for the heat wave. I will go to the lake on Sunday, but when the air temps get like this, the water is not even refreshing, and feels like a bathtub or is sticky. I will just go for some exercise though, and because I will be bored out of my gourd! Maybe one day I will go out for breakfast too, I can probably get away with that!:):) Enjoy your heat wave!

Mornin'. None of my kin are stirring on Facebook yet. Can't get a rise out of any of 'em. Maybe being Friday has something to do with it.
It's gonna be another hot, humid and sunny day here in the little city in the little valley beside the big river. I had to set the thermostat up on the AC. Condensation from it was making my carpet wet. But, I pulled the shade down, making it darker in my apartment and cut off the air to the bedroom so that all the cool air goes only to the living room and kitchen area.
What did we ever do before AC? Well, when I was growing up, we had screens on all the windows and opened them all. We also had screen doors on the entrance doors and slept with the inner doors open at night.
Then, there was fans. at first my folks only had one table fan. Then, dad picked up an electric motor in one of the trades he was always making. I remember him carving a propeller out of a plank, and then building a wood box to hold the fan and motor. A piece of heavy galvanized screen was fastened over the front.
Dad took it out to our screened in front porch and plugged it in. It made quite a racket, sounding like it was about to take off. But, it sure put out the breeze.
Later he slowed the speed down and put it in a window where it would suck air through the whole house.
Those were simpler, less complicated times. Good times.:)

It has been really hot here this week, too, and humid, of course. We have had bursts of rain every few days (usually coinciding with Bobby and I getting into the swimming pool, and then giving out with a big blast of thunder over our heads), and with the rain, I have not had to go out and water the garden and flowers as often.
However, yesterday, everything was looking pretty dry and wilted, and rather than stand outside in the heat with the hose, I decided to turn on the sprinkler and move it around the front yard.
In the process of doing that, I tripped and fell flat on my face onto the hard-baked clay. I have no reflexes to catch myself when I trip; so I just went straight down and landed hard, and hitting my forehead .
I was pretty dizzy for a while afterwards; but managed to get back up and into the house again, and laid down until Bobby came back home.
Today, I am still sore and scraped all over; but feel better than yesterday. Hopefully, sitting in the hot tub at the fitness center and swimming will help the aches and pains to go away .
