Mornin'. Well, I went through the whole debate last night without firing a single shot at my TV. That one is over.
I remember when a family from Germany moved into the house next door to mine. The man and I got on speaking terms. He was ok, in a lot of ways, but I never liked his wife much.
Anyway, during one election, he asked me who I would vote for. I was about to politely tell him it's none of your business, but said probably Wallace. He nearly choked.
We have 52 beautiful, clear degrees at 5:30am. Gonna be a great day here in bacon land. Cool and sunny. Now, if the rivers just weren't at flood stage from all the rain.
Yesterday I felt like cooking, so I threw together everything that would fit in the pot. Frozen ground beef had to be thawed, then it went in with the cooked macaroni, diced tomatos and chilis, diced onion, heaping spoon full of chopped garlic, pepper, green beans and when done, topped with a big handful of shredded cheddar cheese and hot sauce.
Thank God I made way too much for one meal. Today's eatin' is taken care of, maybe tomorrow's too.
Well, I see my coffee mug is M T again.
C U all tomorrow, same time, same place. Adios amigos.

Good morning everyone! 99 today! Going out early, I'm sleeping better because Pickles has been a good boy
And has not made me get up in the middle of the night 2 days straight. He's smart and learns quickly....I'm grumpy if woken up.....my husband and ex both knew that. :)

    Have a great day!

Good Morning, y'all. I'm tired, and might take a nap after this. Didn't sleep well last night, dogs barking and such, but I did get some reading in, which is always nice. I got a payment from the books I sold, now I can pay car insurance, yay. I agree Patsy, service isn't what it used to be. I hope you get the curtain debacle straightened out, and hope your birthday was pleasant. I skipped the debate, as usual. I watched too much TV yesterday, with the shooting rampage in Houston yesterday. I'm interested to hear what the motive was, and am glad no one died, other than the shooter. Have a great day!!

Good Morning Everyone! Well hmm rain again, the job fair was put on hold because A. I thought I had more gas than I had, and it is quite a distance away, B. The last time I was in Richmond driving around in the rain it was really hairy. C. I think if I send in my resume and follow up, it will be almost as good. However, I did get a focus group this morning, and that is always great. They pay quite well! I am going to make a butternut squash in the crockpot...it is a recipe I found online that looks amazing, but it will probably take all day.

Mornin'. We have 52 degrees here in the land of bacon, and it's rainy. Just sprinkles, so far. Rain is something we don't need at this time. All the streams are over full.
It's harvest time here in the Midwest. Anyone ever pick corn by hand? My dad volunteered my services once, when a friend's picker wouldn't pick worth a peck no more.
A bunch of us walked along the rows, pulling the ears of corn off stalks and throwing them into a wagon, pulled slowly along with a tractor. Back and forth across the field we walked until the end.
Another time, a group of my friends and I were put to work gleaning the fields. Ears of corn had missed the wagon or somehow wound up on the ground. Our job was to walk through the fields picking up those ears.
I miss the time spent around warming fires with friends, sharing stories, passing a bottle around and the good natured joking.
Everything has it's season, I guess, and the season for those times has long past.
Take care my friends, enjoy the moment.:)

Enjoyed your "Pulling ears" story, @Ike Willis - At least you get a break from pulling our leg!;) The fields adjacent to us are owned by two Brothers who have a dairy farm, and the one below us presently has a corn crop that is doing well. I understand this has been a good year for corn, so much so that the price has dropped. I am amazed by the huge machinery that have replaced human field hands. I know that out your way they are even bigger! Your mention of the warming fires and passing the bottle, touched me some! Thanks.

Sometimes we had an early winter, back in the good ol' days. We'd still have standing corn in the fields with snow on the ground.:)

Good Morning Kiddos...! Raining here again, doncha love it? I have to get out of the house this weekend,,,as the weather is supposed to be good. The Virginia State Fair is in town, and I wanna grab me some strange delicacies...like chocolate covered corn on the cob or something lol...Just kdding that sounds a bit nasty, but I will find something unique. Anyway, I didn't win the lottery overnight..so I guess it is back to the grind again! Have a good one!

Good Morning, Y'all. I have been doing focus groups off and on since the early 80s @K E Gordon, and although they're not quite as profitable as they once were, I still enjoy them when I can get them. it's been too long, but hopefully if I can upgrade to a somewhat newer computer, I will qualify. Even those have moved past Vista, for the most part. I keep hearing about deep fried Twinkies, but those also sound nasty to me. I love fried dough, though (basically funnel cakes, just in a different configuration), so enjoy the fair!

I'm waiting for a payment from one of my sites before I can go shopping, and I'm running very low on cat food, so unfortunately, they will be relegated to eating tuna and/or salmon...yeah, I know, they won't mind a bit ;). They probably prefer it this way, as a matter of fact. I registered to vote by mail yesterday. I don't mind going in person on my good days, but between my bad days and the car, I'd rather do it this way and ensure my votes get cast.

I enjoy seeing the farm equipment doing its job in the fields when I'm near farms. It's a good reminder of where our food comes from, and I know they work their butts off. The corn sometimes isn't all that tasty, but this year, every ear I've had has been delicious and sweet. Hope y'all have a great day!

@Diane Lane, usually the focus groups I do are physical groups. I have only done a few on the computer. It helps to be signed up with as many agencies as possible. I get to do them maybe every two or three months which is a nice shot in the arm...or the wallet I should say..when they come about. There is nothing like making a hundred bucks or more for hanging out voicing your opinion on something. Sign up for these groups in Houston Diane Lane, cuz it will be well worth the gas if they call you.
