Poor Diane...I feel for you...wish something could be done. I know that hearing a dog bark at night is irritating.

Pickles doesn't bark at night and neither do any of the neighbor's dogs...usually. If I do hear one it will wake me up
And then I wonder why it's barking...is someone out there?

I know how you feel @Diane Lane. The young couple I sold my other house to, who are now my next door neighbors, now has three stud horses. Of course my neighbor across the street has three mares, and it seems one of them is always coming into heat.

Of course when I look outside, and one or more of the studs are out in the street, I call my young neighbor and tell him. But it generally takes him an hour or more to get home. Then to keep the loose horses safely near and still contained within this area someone needs to stay out there to make sure the horses don't go down the only road into or out of this community. Got to be a good neighbor.

Unless he is planning on using these horses for breeding (and they need excellent bloodlines and papers for that), I can't imagine why your neighbor would want to be keeping stallions at all. Not only can they be very dangerous when there is a mare in season nearby; but they are usually required to be in specially built heavy-duty high fences to keep them from getting out and roaming the neighborhood loooking for mares to breed.
Now is off-season for horses, and if there is already a problem now, it is likely to be 10 times worse by next spring when the actual breeding season begins .
Be very careful around those horses, @Ina I. Wonder . Even gentle older stallions have turned nasty when they were trying to get to a mare, and someone tries to stop them. It only takes a second for a stallion to rip your arm half off !
I would think that they would get these horses gelded so that they can be trained and ridden ,and not be trying to break down the fences all of the time.

You're right @Yvonne Smith. He has not prepared his back three acres as yet. But when all the flooding occurred he had to move his horses, or loose them. Sooo!! He is working on his place each weekend trying to set up three different areas for them.

I do know to stay away from them. But if the horses get out, and I can't get another neighbor to take over, I will get in my car and drive around the circle and block off the one road of access to the neighborhood. I never get out of my car.

When we first moved her thirty years ago, this area had a lot of cattle and other livestock. Nowadays it has become predominantly horses. I guess it has become a middle class passtime for people around here.

The old families are passing the neighborhood onto a younger generation.

    Good Morning, Y'all.

@Chrissy Page It's more than just dogs barking. That's definitely annoying, but this is more frenzied, and since I'm a city girl and responsible pet parent, all of my pets have been fixed, so it took me a while to figure out what might be going on. Now that I know the dog that's been getting out running throughout the neighborhood barking and howling for hours in the middle of the night is a female, and the ones on the other side of me are males, I'm thinking she could be in heat. That could be why the ones on the other side have broken out, as well, trying to get to her. The female one was trying to break through my fence on that side, seemingly to get at the male dogs, which would mean breaking through both fences and crossing my yard. There are a lot of irresponsible pet owners here that think it's cute to keep their animals intact, and let them get out and impregnate anything and everything else that's roaming around. Apparently the guy who owns that female dog is 21 years old. His mother seems nice enough, but she seems to let him do whatever he wants, and he comes and goes and doesn't take care of the animal. I don't know if any of them even bothered to come home to feed/water it, but the neighbor across the way, who can see right into their yard, is keeping an eye out. She said the dog was over late one night drinking out of her birdbath, which to me, means it was probably pretty desperate for water. I sometimes find the cats' water bowls empty, too, and I know it's the stray dogs drinking it. I don't begrudge them that water, but I want their owners to take responsibility and put water/food out for them, and secure them. I put that out so the stray cats will have water. @Ina I. Wonder There are some horses and cows here in my neighborhood, but thankfully, those neighbors are responsible and take care to secure and feed their animals.

No wild dogs running around last night, but since I'm so stressed about the ongoing situation, I couldn't sleep anyway. I did watch some movies yesterday, and got some things done around here. Hope y'all have a nice day!

Good Morning Everyone!!!!!!! Yesterday, I spent all day chasing around and stressing, trying to get this stupid apartment shop done. Long story, but suffice it to say, it would have been easier, had I read the instructions...!! Oh well, the fact that I had a hard time was mostly my fault. Anyway, the Redskins won surprisingly, which was super duper and unexpected. I taped the game so I got to see all of it! Anyway, back to it today...I hope everyone has a great day..xxoo

During my growing years my mom would sit at the breakfast table and fire questions at me while I was trying to wake up enough to eat. That used to make me crazy.:D

I thought, just for a bit of a twist, that morning coffee might be had with some nice chamber music. I believe it gives us that little "lift" that we all need to get a good start on the day.
