This is similar to the Coptic Church in Africa. When I lived in Eritrea, we had two Christmas Days (not bad for a pagan like me!). Epiphany, which was around January 18th, was also a holiday.
Good morning everyone, only 57 for a high today and rain in Fresno, which is good news and I also love rainy days. Sorry to hear about the Parkinson's diagnosis, Sheldon...hope the pills will help! However, I am happy to hear about the coffee.
Sad to hear about the Parkinson's Sheldon. My mom had that and one of my last doc's told me I should be prepared for it to, as he detected some twitching in my hands. The golden years, HAH!
Good morning to you all, its 7:30 am and all is quiet 51f out and gloomy, have a busy morning with a dentist's appointment, a funeral and then lunch with my daughter Caroline. This afternoon shopping for foodstuffs to take to Russia. Have a good day whatever you are doing. A bit of Peer Gynt to wake up to
Greetings from the little city by the river. It's a rainy 53 degrees here at 7:15am. Guess I won't be going out. Stay safe and well, y'all.
Good morning forum friends! Still on the chilly side in Fresno with a high of only 55 but sunny, rain is gone. Did read that the Sierra Nevadas got snow which is good news. Also read that a tornado touched down in a town near Modesto which is about 2 hrs from me......thought we didnt get Tornados here! Dont know what my plans are yet, still waking up.....
That pic is adorable! The kitties and I were all snuggled in bed earlier, even though it's not cold here. We're due for storms tomorrow, so maybe they'll bring colder temperatures with them. Good Morning, Everyone, welcome to a new week. Hope everyone has a great day!
@Sheldon Scott, Have courage, meds have come a long way, and I have heard that medicine has been able to slow down the progress of Parkinson's. I wish you well friend, and I'll put you on my prayer list. Stay strong!
To update on how my day turned out, the dentist went well, the funeral was very moving and by coincidence they played the "Peer Gynt" music I posted earlier. Lunch with Caroline was good then it all fell apart, I forgot to take the list I had made, and Aldi my local supermarket was out of stock of all the cheeses I usually take to Russia, so a mixed bag sort of day.
Good morning everybody from a damp and dreary one in Worcester, its 11c (51f) and rising so not too cold........Tomorrow I will be heading for much colder climes in Russia where snow and 1c (34f) is forecast. My first job this morning is cheese hunting in town, then packing my suitcase ready for an early start tomorrow at 4am, so tonight will be a short one. Have a great day everybody A wistful song to wake up to Ralph McTell "Naomi" "Naomi" Age has made her frail I'm scared to take her in my arms But there's an understanding now And a peace behind the eyes And age is for complaining But you won't here much from me Growing old with Naomi Now I recall the first time I took her in my arms At times I was unfaithful She said: "no future in the past" So we don't talk about it She keeps a gentle edge on me I don't mind growing old with Naomi She wasn't all I wanted But she's all I'll ever need Oh, a rich man always wants some more And I was rich indeed A rich man and a poor fool Yet it turned out right for me How lucky can you get? Growing old with Naomi The kids today, they think that they've Discovered everything But me and her, well we'd done it all Without a wedding ring Sometimes things remind us And she's smiling back at me It ain't hard growing old with Naomi She wasn't all I wanted But she's all I'll ever need Oh, a rich man and a poor fool And I was rich indeed I never thought her beautiful But I do now, 'cause I see I'm getting wiser Growing old with Naomi Oh, the place is kind of quiet now The kids have all left home We'd like to see more of them But we're grateful when they call And in the quietness afterwards She comes and sits by me Make me feel like a man Growing old with Naomi
