Good morning everyone, chilly here today even have an alert! We're cold already @Cody Fousnaugh!
We are getting the cold front here, too. Tomorrow, it will start raining, and then get cold, and we are supposed to be in the 20’s at night for the rest of this week. It could snow, with the cold temperatures and rain in the forecast.
I am sure that everyone here in Alabama will be wishing for snow for Christmas. That is because the only get a few inches of snow every now and then, and it is ways gone by the next day.
If they had to actually contend with much snow, I am sure it would be a panic here. This is winter in north Idaho, back in the early 1950’s.
The only time Ive seen snow here is if you go up at least 5,000 ft to Shaver lake. Ive seen a few neighbors a few years ago bring a pick up truck worth down and dump in on their front lawn for the kids....didn't last long but was quite a sight!
I remember in December of 2006, when we lived south of Denver, Coloradolot of people there and the vicinity were wanting a “White Christmas”. Well, they got one! It was called The Holiday Blizzard and hit the week of Christmas.......all 7 feet of snow! Snow drifts higher than our Durango SUV. Snow was over 1/2 way up our garage door.
My Director/Supervisor at work told me, “guess people here will watch what they wish for!”
And, just think, this is what we definitely could be going back to.....a White Christmas and lots of snow after Christmas as well.
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
Good morning everyone.
This morning in my prayer time I have been lifting up @Holly Saunders , @Patsy Faye @Ina I. Wonder and all of you who are having so much pain with your health problems. I asked that you be given relief from your pain and that healing be brought to each of you. It's hard enough getting older without the added burden of so much pain in our daily lives. I pray some or all of that pain may be lifted from those who need this.
Yesterday I was so excited when my Optometrist told me that in 14 months my vision had such little change that I did not need new glasses. This has never happened before since I started wearing prescription glasses and I am hoping this good news came because I have been taking eye vitamins and eating more of the dark green veggies that contain lutein which is supposed to be good for your eyes. Since I am the only driver in our home now...I need my vision to be good for as long as possible.
Tonight our cold spell will start heading in and I've got all the ingredients to make chicken sausage shrimp okra gumbo for tomorrow. Looking forward to this tasty dish.
Be kind to yourselves and others today. And dwell on the good things in your life no matter how large or small those good things may be.
Good morning everyone. That Gumbo sure looks good @Babs Hunt Cold front came thru last night. Gonna be 25 degrees colder today.
Thank you @Babs Hunt
Should be back here tomorrow
Good wishes to you all x
Good afternoon everybody !
Hi everyone it's 6:00 pm here and I haven't achieved much today, apart from a short walk to the corner shop to pick up some groceries, and cook some fish for dinner.
I have finished watching a Netflix series (originally a BBC production called "River") which I somehow missed when it was on the BBC. I loved it for it's depth and all the issues it brought up.
Have a great Tuesday!!
Some paintings by Walter Moras a 19th century German landscape artist, I love the way he uses light in his works....
@Terry Page....we watched River also...good, intense, and um different. Luther is another real good one, a bit messy here and there, but very good!
A bit more than nippy this morning. Our 5 plus hour drive back yesterday had it all but snow.
Burrrr...it's cold this morning over here. I've got the heater on right now to take the chill out of the air while my Honey drinks his coffee and gets ready for work. The wind chill says it's feeling about 39 degrees and it feels every bit of that to me right now. We also have a 100% chance of rain and I'm got to get out in this cold and rain and bring my Honey to work around 9am...the blessing is that his job is just a short drive from our home.
It's a good day to start addressing some Christmas cards to family and friends, and maybe even wrap a few presents. And it's a great day to be eating gumbo.
@Holly Saunders I hope you are feeling better today...sending prayers and caring thoughts your way this morning.
A peaceful and cozy day to you all.
Good evening to you all, it's 4:30 on another dull day here, I have made a fish pie for our dinner, when Lisa comes home from work at 5ish....
Enjoy your day in whatever shape or form it arrives in
Here are a few paintings by the Californian born artist Guy Rose which I came across earlier...
Guy Orlando Rose was born March 3, 1867, in San Gabriel, California. He was the seventh child of Leonard John Rose and Amanda Jones Rose.
His father was a prominent California senator. He and his wife raised their large family on an expansive Southern California ranch and vineyard – the San Gabriel Valley town of Rosemead bears the family name. In 1876 young Guy Rose was accidentally shot in the face during a hunting trip with his brothers. While recuperating he began to sketch and use watercolors and oil paints. He graduated from Los Angeles High School in 1884 and moved to San Francisco where he studied art between 1885 and 1888 at the School of Design
On September 12, 1888, Rose enrolled at the Académie Julian in Paris and studied with Benjamin-Constant, Jules Lefebvre, Lucien Doucet and Jean-Paul Laurens while in Paris.
Rose lived in New York in the 1890s and illustrated for Harper's, Scribners, and Century. Choosing to return to France in 1899, he and his wife Ethel Rose bought a cottage at Giverny. In 1900 he resided in Paris and spent the winter in Briska, Algeria where he painted three known paintings. From 1904 to 1912 husband and wife lived in Giverny and his works from this period show the influence of "the master" Claude Monet, who became his friend and mentor.
Good afternoon to you all !
Cold and cloudy today...
I liked Luther as well @Gloria Mitchell again the psychological aspects appealed, you reminded me I must catch up on it, as I am a couple of series behind I think
I really liked "The Sinner" as well which we finished watching here last week..
Good afternoon all, it's a sunny day day though just on freezing point Lisa is working at the university and I am lazing around as usual ..... we are going to Mariinsky Theatre this evening to see a programme of ballet excerpts from the "Silver Age", (end of 19th to beginning of 20th century) I am looking forward to it. They have evidently switched on the seasonal street decorations, so I will try and take a video of some of them on the way.
Enjoy the day.....
Here are some pics of street art by the Croatian artist Lomac .......
Best known for his large-scale photorealistic murals, Lonac is a highly talented Croatian artist whose amazing works can be found throughout his native country and beyond. His signature huge, eye-catching pieces – created with spray cans and brushes – are usually influenced by skateboard culture, comics, graffiti, movies, music, but also current social issues. Strong knowledge of operating painting equipment including his masterful spray can control has allowed the artist to create a recognizable body of work that ranges from monumental realistic pieces to smaller, humorous and often surreal works.
Good Morning Everyone. Burrr...it's a little colder this morning than it was yesterday and we have an 80% chance of rain today. It's my Honey's day off and I was supposed to take him shopping to get his gifts for his side of the family...but with the weather this way today he's not sure if he wants to get out in it. So we may put this off until another day.
It's a good day to snuggle in and watch movies and I have alot of Christmas movies we can watch together. So maybe that's what we will do today if we don't go shopping. There are also cards to address and stamp, presents to be wrapped, etc.
Stay warm and enjoy whatever you decide to do today.
Good evening to you all !
Good Morning. We may actually have some snow mixed with sleet this morning. All our Public and many of our Private Schools are closed today just to be on the safe side. My husband's boss will pick him up and another employee will bring him home today too so that I won't have to get out on our roads in case they get icy.
I'm supposed to babysit my two youngest grandkids for a few hours today but I will have my daughter come get me and bring me back home too if she still wants to keep her plans for today. I'm just not to keen on driving under these weather conditions.
It's definitely a cold, wet, winter's day over here even though Winter doesn't officially start until Dec. 21st. The way things are going our City just may see some snow this year.
Wherever you are, whatever you are doing today...may it be a blessed one.
Stay in, skip the news, add a log to the fireplace, watch some movies, and eat warm and cheesy stuff...the day will be great.
25 degrees here this morning.
Good evening to you all from a white St.Peter, we have had several snow showers overnight and today.
We had a lovely time at the ballet last night, I will post some videos/photos later....... I have been out of it today though because I didn't sleep well last night ............ the snow season has started at last, so we have decided to go on a trip to an old partly restored manor house, it's about a 30 minute train ride and a mile or so walk from here.
Enjoy your weekend.....
A few paintings from the Spanish 19th century artist Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida
Good Morning. Definitely in the 20's over here this morning. But unlike yesterday with snow and rain...today the sun is shining in all its glory.
There's frost all over the grass and roof tops so it still looks like there is snow on the grown and the water in the birdbath and in small puddles left from yesterday have all turned to ice.
Later today when the sun thaws out everything my Honey and I will make a short trip to where he works to pick up hot dogs and buns...as he decided he is hungry today for my hot dogs with my home made chili on them and some oven fries...and that sounds just fine with me too.
Hope your day is nice in every way.
Enjoy your weekend !
